I think this one will be easy. Can you provide the wingspan, too?

Bingo grotto2. Anyone happen to know the wingspan? The scan I have has no scale on it and the largest dimension shown is the 2 1/2" spinner. That's a bit tricky to scale from since that's a 1:24 ratio with a 60" dimension. 1/16" off on the spinner equals 1 1/2" off on a 60" line!

May 1972 MAN. Maybe a search there would help.
I'll bet Dennis Hunt would know the size right off. He used to kit it.

Drat! Nearly right. The Thunder Panser was a later development published in November 1975 RC Modeler.

I checked the May 1972 MAN but the span is not mentioned in the article.

I have scaled up many plans using spinner or wheel dimensions as a "scale" and it works fine. You have a 1" dimension as dihedral and a 2" nose wheel on the D-20 plan and I bet the distance between the foam wing root and tip templates is 30".
