I noticed today that the prop had a name on it called SUPERCOOL. I have found a few hits on GOOGLE. Did 9 flights on the Aerora today and getting a few of her cobwebs cleaned out . The OS 61RF is running sweet. I started experimenting with 1/2 flap for take-off to shorten the Take-off run. Worked well. How complete is the Aerora kit you have SPEED-PANZER?
Looks like the Aerora was one of the early ARF's so what does a kit come like?

Hi,

the MK Aurora is a classic all-wood kit, nothing done ARF - you have to do the puzzle work all yourself! MK kits are known to be of best available quality. The former owner of this Aurora kit which I got now started the fuselage. It looks good so far, still some parts needed for completing the fuselage, no carving or sanding done yet. The rest is untoched in the box.

Yes, me too - I do use 30-40% flaps for takeoff on my classic Speed Panzer pattern ship. I have impression that it is easier to rotate and lift off the plane at slower speeds.

Here’s some new info for a very old thread… :)

I’ve been away flying sailplanes last few years but got the itch to fly vintage pattern again. While looking for what’s available on the big auction site I found an MK Aurora 60 kit that just sold today... And the winning bid is - US$ 695.00! [X(]

That’s quite a price for an unbuilt kit... in $700 range! This kit is in great condition and likely the reason why it went so high. I wanted to bid on it, but that thought went away as the prices soared. I should have bought a couple when they were still available! The auction item number is 230757231322 in case anyone want to check it out.

Did it anyone here get it? :)

When I saw that rather than ask who the lucky buyer was I thought I'd ask who the lucky seller was!

I think the seller is an auction house in my area. They have been involved with hobby products in the past. If this was a modeler from the area, I would know who it is; there aren't any pattern pilots in the area other than me, much less any vintage/classic pattern pilots.

From the description it does appear to be from an auction house and then the seller sold it on ebay. I didn't realize how coveted Auroras were given that they were not out of production for that long. Anybody else have one?

David is right, I should've ask who the lucker seller was! :)

Keith, where did you buy that Aurora? More to the point, WHO did you buy it off?

They were rare as rockinghorse s**t over here on the west-coast.
