RE: Any Idea What This Is?
Andy,
I have to admit, I don't think I've ever seen this one... but.. I am going to check one of my molds and see if the fuselage couldn't have come from it..It MAY be a T2A MK III.... but .. will check... I know my MK III doesn't have an exhaust exit like that, but the top half looks really familiar.... more later, Dan Carolina Custom Aircraft |
RE: Any Idea What This Is?
The forward end of the fuselage resembles an RC City Avanti II I had in the late 80's but the tail & wing are all wrong...I'm stumped.

RE: Any Idea What This Is?
Is there some better pictures I can take to help out. Is it possible that underbelly was added to an existing kit.
|
RE: Any Idea What This Is?
Looks like a Paternguy design!
|
RE: Any Idea What This Is?
LOL, its not one of mine. LOL
I am stumped too. |
RE: Any Idea What This Is?
How about a picture of the full fuse instead of 2 seperate pictures. That would help a little more.
|
RE: Any Idea What This Is?
I will take more pics tomorrow

RE: Any Idea What This Is?
I agree it's a Paternguy design.

RE: Any Idea What This Is?
It loosely resembles a two-stroke Omen, but the guppy belly is open instead of closed or less exaggerated.

RE: Any Idea What This Is?
its not boxie enough to be one of mine. LOL

RE: Any Idea What This Is?
I'm sticking with an RC City Avanti II designed by Jim Graham (the Avanti I had no belly pan & had a straight wing TE)
I think these were only made while RC City was in California before the move to Tn, maybe whoever curently has the molds for the RC City kits (PAC?) has a photo of the Avanti II in the archives. |

RE: Any Idea What This Is?
This is probably totaly irelevent but I bought the model out of dust corner at a shopt called RC City in Minnesota. The owner was a man named Morrie who is no longer with us.

RE: Any Idea What This Is?
Andy,
It isn't anything I kit... I checked the T2A MK III today... it DOES have a wing that looks like a Brushfire... but.. the stab isn't swept correctly and the wing isn't thick enough to be a Brushfire.. so... I have to admit... STUMPED !!!!! What the heck... fly it anyway.. what's the worst thing that could happen???? Dan Carolina Custom Aircraft |
RE: Any Idea What This Is?
I definately want to fly it. It is plumbed and drilled for a ys61. What would have comparable power and speed. I was thinking a 91 4C. Also would painting over the existing scheme add to much weight or would I have to sand her down?

RE: Any Idea What This Is?
OK.....I can help ya on this. I am about 95% sure .....The model is called an "ATLANTA" It was distributed by a hobby supplier called "Falcon Hobbies". The kit was actually made in Japan by a company called "Zig Saw". There glass work was pretty nice and the epoxy for the fuse was tinted green. Zigsaw made the kit for a few years then stopped production and went into the heli blade business to stay afloat. It was an partial complete type of kit..ie..The wings and stab were sheeted but that was about it.
I built 2 of them for customers when i was building semi pro back in the 80's. It was originally a trike gear model. The builder of the one pictured modified it to a taildragger. If set up properly (like any pattern plane) it flew well with no bad habits. The majority of the Atlanta's that i encountered (most contests on the east coast had at least one) were powered with a YS.60. I test flew 1 or 2 of them for basic trimming to help my customers. RE: Any Idea What This Is?

RE: Any Idea What This Is?
Hey, John, were you in Richmond when Bob Fulwider had Bob's Hobby Shop on Cary St? I lived in Bon Air from '64 to '84.
|
RE: Any Idea What This Is?
Yes...I flew with Bobby for years until he moved to Fla. We were pretty close.
|
RE: Any Idea What This Is?
Sorry for the short post...I'm actually at work and getting ready to leave. I've been in Richmond since 1966. Started flying RC in 1965. I flew with RARC (oilvllle) until we lost the field Oct of 2005.
