Eyeball or Troublemaker Build Thread?

I have both the Eyeball and Troublemaker EXT kits from Eureka. I will only have time to build one this winter (the slot is #3 in the building line up), so which one would everybody like to see a thread on? I am leaning towards the Troublemaker at the moment, but I'm not really hung up either way and need a push...:D

Thanks,
Mark

I've never flown the Troublemaker but I had two Eyeballs that I flew in pattern back
in the 70's . I have seen a Troublemaker fly and in my opinion the Eyeball is smoother.
It is a beautiful flying airplane with only one issue to deal with. It does have a considerable
amount of roll coupling with rudder but that should be no problem with todays computer
radios. I must admit though, Ive always liked the sexy looks of the Troublemaker, especially
when painted in Tony Bonettis' "bat plane" paint scheme.
What is the quality like in the Eureka kits ?

I'll vote for the TroubleMaker also. I'm hoping Santa drops one off for me next week!!! I would also like to know what the quality of the Eureka kits are like.

After I finish my scratch Curare (about 50% done) I plan to start the Troublemaker EXT.

Do the Troublemaker.

Well, that was a landslide. So, the Toublemaker it is.

As for the quality question, I have not really dug into the box that deeply. What I have pulled out is nicely done, with nice clean CNC router cutting and everything nicely packaged. It is a short kit, so there isn't that much there, with no sheeting or stick stock included. I chose the taildragger option for both planes (boo, hiss, I know) and the formed aluminum gear might be a touch light, but it isn't terrible. Keep in mind both of these planes are really just big 45 sized models, not 60 sized. The Troublemaker is 57" span and 570sqin, and it should build well under 6lb (I am aiming for 5.5lb) with the ST51 I am using for power. The plans are nicely drawn, with building instructions and notes on them (no instruction manual that I have seen yet) and numerous isometric views showing assembly details and how it all fits together. Should be no problem building from them without a manual.

I will try to get out to the garage this weekend and get some pictures of the kits and plans.

My father had a Troublemaker, back in the 70's with an OS FSR and Rhom retracts. I say this with no exaggeration; it was by far the fastest prop driven model I have ever seen. It would make this high-pitched whistle from one end of the field to the other. It was a truly awl inspiring plane. WOW.

I might have to buy one myself. LOL. Maybe with a piped rear exhaust OPS on the front end. HMMMMMM......

I am looking forward to the build.

Where does one find Eureka kits? I'd be real interested in a Troublemaker kit. TIA!
