60 size Engine type
Are there any problems fitting an OS 61(2 stroke )(rear needle valve) in any of the Vintage designs such as the Qwic-Fly, King Altair, Cloud Dancer or Omen II.

Hi Ron,
I put an OS 61 FX in my Cutlass Supreme. The Cutlass has a short nose as is typical of the late 60-early 70's timeframe so I moved the firewall back 3/8 in. This meant that I also reduced the volume for the tank which is a 12 oz size whereas a 16 oz would be more normal today. But everything fit, so what the heck. The FX is a bit heavier than the older engines, so I may have to move the battery and/or radio gear a bit to get it to balance. It looks like the overall weight will be about 6.5 pounds. The FX should put out more power than the ENYA III I used many years ago, so perhaps some throttle management will be needed which would make the flight duration longer. I know that on the Qwic Fly installing a "Newer" .61 was a bit tight as the front case is normally longer on the newer engines verses an engine like the old Super Tiger Blue Head which front case is very short. The Kraft 61 I used did not have a remote needle and I had to put recesses in the firewall for the back plate screw heads to get the spinner clearance down to 1/16". The Primus I am finishing really does not have a nose ring and therefore the spinner can be located way out front if necessary with out looking weird. I can not comment on the other designs in question.
