My new Bird

I have been tossing around some ideas for a new BPA style bird. I have purchased the wood and will begin the build soon. Let me know what you think and if you would like a build thread.

Looks great! I vote for a build thread.

A foot of snow on the ground, haven't had a chance to run it yet.

The plane will be 62", retracts and either my OPS Fire or the YS 60 Fire.

Oh yeah and its called the TKO.

Looks Great!

How about a few specs... for instance...

Plug in wings or one piece?

How about wing placement... Thrust Line or above or below?

Removeable tail group or fixed?

How Long is the Fuse? Nose ring to R/hingeline?

Wood or Fiberglass Fuse?

Gonna Paint or Roll in Plastic? :D

So great to see those creative juices flowing!

Tnx.. for sharing!

Below is the airfoil, I will be using on "My own Creation" named "Sugar Land Xpress"

;)

Whew.................can't say I've ever run across that airfoil....NACA@$#%^%......???

RE: My new Bird

This is going to be an all wood airframe, the wing is one piece and the tail group will not be removable. The thrust line is above the wing. I am going with a conventional fiber filled motor mount. The fuse is 59" and the wing span is 62". I am going to cover it in Monokote. I am aiming for an all up weight of 6 to 6.5 lbs.

Don't forget the stab anhedral.

RE: My new Bird

LOL, I was waiting for you to chime in. LOL

Yes there is anhedral in the stab as well.

So how many 5 pound sacks of sugar are you going to be lifting with that laminar flow section? <G>

I didn't know that ballistic pattern had extra points for a lifting contest (P-51).

Don't forget to make up a normal wing for pattern flying.

:D

Good One Ed!

Don't know how many I will be lifting but it sure did lift a bunch of Bombs and Exterior tanks in WWII! ! Also was pretty fast and offered lots of agility in air to air combat!

Besides Ed, things are always better if they are Sugar Coated.[sm=lol.gif]

I'm betting it will be pretty ballistic as well.

Don't think I can compete with Patrnguy's 6 lb weight limit as I'm hoping to come in around 7 to 7.5 lbs with retracts and piped .60. All wood constructed fuse, Foam wing (honeycombed).

RE: My new Bird

Tony, since foam is cheap it might be worthwhile to cut a simple Kaos plan form wing with that airfoil and test it out on an old reliable airframe first.
