ORIGINAL: gwc58 Hey guys I can get plans for I know for sure the LA-2, SL-1 and Sl-1a. I need to check for the LA-1. If interested give me a call at 614-834-5227 or email me at [email protected] These plans were for the glass kits. I will have to look for the old wood La-1 with glass top. Thanks Geoff Hey Geoff Can you still get plans for the LA-1.. Look at these photos and see if you think this is a LA-1 fuse. |
RE: LA1
Hook,
If your going to build it I can give you some info for the stab... I know we moved it back from the original mark on the fuse... You might want to ask Geoff also about any other updates for that plane. scott |
RE: LA1
Hook,
Sure looks like an LA-1 to me. You can get a PDF version LA-1 plan here: http://aztecair.net/LA-1.htm If you need a paper copy, PM or email me. George T |
RE: LA1
Here's my LA-1. 18 years old now and....don't shoot me....never flown. It is still in perfect condition. Even have the YS .61 NIB ready for it. I'm so not a builder. I drooled over a LA-1 for 2 years when I was in college and finally got one. We almost had it done before I moved away to the land of dust and cactus aka Arizona (so good to be back in Texas). I wish I had the time and desire (sorry Mike) to finish it. Actually, maybe it's just the know-how I need

RE: LA1
If not, I would be happy to take it off your hands. LOL

RE: LA1
sure looks nice....
you should finish it and join the classic fun...... scott anderson pma |
RE: LA1
Probably because I'm not looking but....I haven't heard much about any classic pattern events here in Texas. I jumped back in with both feet and bought Todd Blose's Pass-Port and flying in my first contest in 15 years in a few weeks in Dallas. I miss LA-1 pattern days. I so remember people bringing the Aurora's and Cosmos with the MK Props on them. Ginormous loops at full throttle and the sound the MK Prop made at full speed at the bottom of a loop. It'll send shivers up your spine. I also have a few other older new-style pattern planes i.e. (I think) Typhoon and the prototype Merlin (Papa Byrd design).
Someone in Texas needs to offer to finish my LA-1 for me. That plane deserves to be airborne! |
RE: LA1
Check out www.classicpatternassociation.com and see what the Classic Pattern Association has to offer..... Give it about 2 hours I'm working on a bunch of updates right now and uplaoding new stuff.

clrd2lnd/Scott:
I live in the San Antonio area and will be attending the Dallas pattern event. Look me up and we can discuss finishing your LA-1. I will be in a white Chevy Silverado crew cab with a capmer shell on it. I will be there on Friday. I will be one fo the "more mature" (LOL) individuals and I will be flying a Shinden or Black Magic V2 and will be with a 13 year old boy flying a Dave Guerin built Temptaion. I know we are talking about the LA-1 but I saw some info from Geoff about plans for the SL-1. I built and flew an SL-1 about 7 years ago and I have to say it was one of the sweetest flying planes I ever owned. Had a YS 120 in it and I loved the plane. Attached are a couple of photos. One other thing. In looking thru my "inventory" of older pattern planes I have the following kits: Summit 120, Elan, Finesse and Conquest or Challenge VI (the reason for the confusion is that the box with the foam cores has both names on it so I am not sure what it is). I will post a photo of the fuse and see if you guys can identify it. The reason for mentioning these planes is that if someone needs to make molds of the glass, I have the parts available and will provide them as long as we are not violating any infringement laws or we have the permission of the owner of the rights. RE: LA1
One other thing I forgot to mention is that I also have NIB Dash 5. It is not for sale but if someone is interested, I could make copies of the plans.

RE: LA1
Ed,
I'll bring the plane and you can have a look! I'll be in a green F-250 Crew cab with a 30ft Toy Hauler (we're gonna camp!) I'll be with a 10 year old flying a Playstation 2. I doubt you'll miss the Toy Hauler though http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...wink_smile.gif Depending on how my son is doing in school, I will probably be there sometime in the early afternoon on Friday myself. I'm flying a Pass-Port in the Advanced class for now. I'll have the LA-1 and you can see how much is left to finish. I'm excited to meet you sir. Thanks, Scott |
RE: LA1
Ed,
I have several of the original molds for some of the planes you listed :) scott |
RE: LA1
Ed,
sent you a pm |
RE: LA1
Scott(patternpilot).
I got the PM and replied. Scott (CLRD2LAnd): Looking forward to meeting you. See you in a few weeks. Thanks, Ed |
RE: LA1
Ed,
pm back with info |
RE: LA1
Scott:
Got it. Thanks, Ed |
Geoff gave me one of his first LA-1s. It's never been completed. Being involved in a start up software company replaced my flying time!
I'm actually thinking of getting back into it. |
