'72 Masters Program
 

Guys, this is pretty cool stuff. My buddy Steve Ellison kept the program from the '72 Team trials (he was a young contestent in it) and had his dad dig it out and scan it. Thought it would be appreciated here. Some great pattern history.

Very Kewl!!

I'm soooo looking forward to Huntsville!! Hopefully some of those names on that roster will be there this year too!! I made a mistake by not going last year even though I didn't have an airplane ready...I should have went anyway... [:@]

Maybe this year will be even bigger and better!! :D

Wow- amazingly cool, thank you Mike for posting this! I've never seen anything like it, only what was published in the magazines. And I'm with FB, love that cover art. I was 11 in '72, but recoginize a few guys and planes from their pictures in the magazines.

That's the same plane used for the FAI World Championships brochure in Doylestown, PA that year. One of the guys in my club built a plane with that scheme, he did black checkerboard on the wing bottom.

Nice pics RFJ! What magazine was it published in? I don't remember seeing that one. [sm=confused.gif]

They were from the May 1974 issue of American Aircraft Modeler. Seems they held a design competition by publishing an outline drawing and specs of a proposed model and asking readers to submit a plan/construction article of their built and flown version. One of the requirements was that the model be flown at the 1973 Nats in Oshkosh!

There were two winners, Howard Mottin and Bruce Lund, and both were published in May 1974. Personally I preferred Bruce Lund's version shown below.
