Classic Pattern Acquisition Binge

This is Crankpin, Phoenix lover, planes that is. I just got back. Look at what I acquired today, and I am a happy camper. I am going back to buy the other Mach I this week, found two, took one today. Should have taken the other one today.
Balsa in these Mach's is excellent, I went thru every piece. I do a good job of covering foam wings, but these are very thin, I will take to a pro to get sheeted and glassed.

Phoenix VI here, got that today also. This will add to my other two VI's. The Vertigo I showed on this forum last week, arrived today. I am in TALL COTTON. As soon as I get Intruder # 2 finished, I will start on the two VI's. One is almost done. The Mach's, save till this season is over, then on to them around Christmas. Maybe that will be nice with the Jett .91's. Whoo-Hoo ! !

I have enough Rhom-Air's, bought 4 sets off of E-Bay, three complete trike systems brand new.

I ain't braggin'............ Yes I am. I got rid of some nice classic's a few years ago, kicked myself many times, Should be done with the buyin' soon.

Congrats!! You're going to have quite a fleet when you get them all in the air.

Hey guy's - Thanks for the nice words. I am trying to get stuff in here. I used to have a lot of "stuff". I traveled for 14 years, flying days were over, not home much. There were times when I would get some kits, and they would sit around for a few years, then get rid of them. Only thing now, price is not the same. I guess if you factor in inflation, etc., not too bad. And, a lot of this stuff is not being made anymore. Some is being re-manufactured.

Just a couple more and I will be set. I am going back to purchase the other Mach I. The Phoenix series is favorite, but the Mach's are too nice to pass up. This second one has the fuselage built already. Hey Ron, I can only fly one at a time.
Some more "stuff" attached. The other P-6 fuse, and the finished 6. The Mach I is from the BPA contest up in Huntsville, CD'd by Gary Richardson, great pattern flyer. I forget the guy's name, he hadn't flown it yet.

The two tails are from the original World Intruder, and the other one I am duplicating. I strip these ARF's and recover, monokote.
Some of you guy's probably gettin' tired of seeing these planes. Shoud be a while now, I will do a couple build threads later on with the glass and foam stuff.

I'm finding that buying classic pattern ships much like eating peanuts, you can't stop at just one! Nice collection you got going there Crankpin!

Right, you can't have just one. Peanuts, that is a good way to look at it.

You're going to have a nice collection in the hanger! You're going to fly 'em all right? Nothing worse than a box of balsa wood and foam sitting on a shelf just dying to be in the air!;)

Congratulations, Crankpin. You have an enviable classic pattern inventory now.

I tried to buy back a Phoenix 8 that I started working on in 1982. The owner said he was interested, but hasn't made any further moves to complete the transaction. So, I'm going to focus on the models that I have for now and maybe buy a new Phoenix 8 kit when that feller over in the Middle East returns in a few months and begins kit production again. I just want it for its looks. I've always wanted to do up a Phoenix 8 in ME-262 like colors and markings. Of course, the Phoenix doesn't have to be an 8. Other numbers would be okay too.

Okay on you cornering all of the NIB Rhom-Air landing gear.
