Early R/C Nutcracker

:DI got my Nutcracker kit today. What a beauty. Beats the original gelcocated all to heck! Glass work is great and light too. This will come out much lighter than the original I had.

Will try to upload pics tomorrow.

Here are the pics I promised of the kit. Needless to say, they explain the quality of the kit by themselves.

I was evidently one of the first on the list to receive a kit I just got lucky and they sent me one of the first kits. It does not have the carbon banding in the fuse, but niether did my first one in the 70's. I will put a ladder in it anyways.

I start this as soon as I am done painting my Curare.

Early R/C.

Did they cut the stab as a diamond? Can't tell by the photos. I buiilt one back in 74 or 75 and still have the plans and instructions for it. Yep, it was heavy.... Flew very fast and when I sold it, the new owner creamed it on the first flight! It will be interesting to follow the build and all up weight. I am working on enlarging the plans for a all balsa Nutcracker.

Very Kewl!! Really nice looking kit!!

Since the Revenger (which I fell for in another thread) works out not to be a SPA Legal plane I think I'll probably be going with this one...I bought a used Intruder that I may refurbish but it has a few flaws (Anhedrial Wings..he he...which are also warped pretty bad)...As usual I wanted something quick and easy which turned out to be a big ole project...

Thanks for the photos!! I've only been able to see a tiny little picture if the Nutcracker but it really cought my eye...Now that I see your's it pretty much takes seals the deal...That one goes on the "want it gotta have it list"... :D

Looking forward to more photos as she progresses...

It has the diamond stab.
The fuse is very light. It will come out at a good weight i'm sure.
I will use my brand new ST 60 Bluehead PDP ABC in it.

Looks like Wing, Mfg. Same place we got the Phoenix V's. Look at this fuselage, same stuff ? Wing said they had the "Nutcracker', in the works.

Wing purchased EARLY RC MODELS, Co.

I ordered a nutcracker about 7 weeks ago, gave Dan my CC # he said it would take about 2 weeks. I have called and emailed with no answer at all as to when I will get my nutcracker. Has anybody else run in to this??

Jeff how long did it take you to receive yours??

Thanks, Pete[:o]

Hi Jeff,

Looking at post #4, on the photo of the fuselage, the fin doesn't appear to match the side view on the plan.
Any idea which is correct?

The plans are not full size except for the formers and the rudder and elevators. Not a true representation of the real plane. ment for assembly instructions only I think. The original kit didn't come with full size plans either if I remember correctly.

RE: Early R/C Nutcracker

I just talked to a nice young man at Wing and they have the Nutcracker in stock, I should have one in my inventory soon. I flew Nutcrackers during the 1975-76 season crashed both. One on the 2nd or 3rd test flight radio failure (Pro Line) the 2nd just before Nationals dead battery my fault, long story (Kraft Signature) . I think the Nutcracker was one of the best pattern ships I ever flew, dont know why it was not more popular. Perhaps because the great Jim Kirkland passed away around the time it was released... I don't know. Shortly after the the 2nd crash I started with the Phoenix7 and been hooked on them since, I love the way it rolls.
