Question on X9303
 

Thought I would post this here, as I spend 99% of time here, familiar with all. Horizon sent the memo out, to re-route the wire's at the elevator gimbal location on the X9303. I have flown this radio a few times, not much lately. No problems. I took the back off, did as they instructed, put back together. Now, I notice a slight ratcheting sound on the elevator. You have to put your ear to it to hear it, and you can feel it on elevator stick movement. I wear digital hearing aid's, and can hear an ant walk across the floor. I never noticed this before, and had no reason to put my ear to it. Horizon says, send it in. If anyone out there can check their tx, see if this is normal, please advise asap, as I am ready to send it in tomorrow, and who know's how long they will keep it. I am OK, as I can just re-bind to another 2.4 tx, but this one is primary. I am sure I did not move any wires into the gimbal area, as it was only to take the screw out at the post, bring the wire around, apply some silicone at the top, and that's it.

Crank, you should have seen this long thread, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_78..._1/key_/tm.htm . If it didn't ratchet before, it should not ratchet now. I just checked my X9303 after complying with the "JR" approved method of rerouting the wires. The aileron/elevator stick is smooth. No ratcheting. I would take the transmitter apart and recheck how the wires are lying. As you will see in the bulletin, there is no metion of silcone. Although some others did use shoe goo. Someone posted that the caustic qualities of silcone might eat into the insulation. Also, you will see in the thread above where a number of people moved the spiral wire hold down to the gimbal. I think if you remove the back of the transmitter, recheck your wire location, then you should solve your problem.

PS: I think with a little checking, you will not have to return the transmitter.
