Challanger Build Help
1 Attachment(s)
Hi all I am about half way through my latest project, it is a model from the 80's called a "Chalanger" this is one of the early "Turn About" planes
designed to be flowen with a OS FS 120 it was featured in RCM & E (British Mag) and then in Airborne issue 111 here in Australia. I was very lucky to purchase a glass short form kit from a fellow club member. I supect this is a very rare kit as they were only sold via mail order for a short time and at $300.00 a very few would have sold. The problem is I am not sure how to fit the belly pan under the wing, Do I glue it to the wing as was done in other planes I have built or do I make up the pan like a Hatch so it held on with screws or hatch clips ? As you can see the fuse has a recess at each end of the wing to take the pan that that makes me think a hatch setup was what was intended. I have posted photos of what the model will look like and photos of my problem. Thanks in advance John |
RE: Challanger Build Help
John, I'm thinking that you could use the 4 bolt wing mounting technique and get away with having the wing bolt on with the fairing glued to the wing.
All you'd have to do is rout out 4 holes in the hatch to suit your wing bolts, and voila! |
RE: Challanger Build Help
Thanks for the input Rendegade, this will not work as I have already mounted the wing with a dowell and two Wing Bolts, I am
starting to head more down the hatch path. John |
RE: Challanger Build Help
You know you could always cut the dowels off and fit two bolts at the leading edge!
