Bad luck with my Mach 1

I'm restoring a mach1 beside my curare build.
The mach1 was a gift, it had real bad wings and tail.
So I ordered new foam wings and tail, work real good with balsa sheeting for the first time.
So everything is done so I can move on the the fuse[:o] , but what I found was sad, it had been badly repaired after a crash
and the fuse was twisted.
The fuse is a glassfiber fuse, now this feels crappy.
It was free but I have some money and time in it, can I get a new fuse for it?
Glass or built up, maybee a fuse shortkit[:o]

Thank god my curare build is going fine so far:eek:

Take care.

Have fun during these snowy days:

BTW, do you guys fly with skis? I was considering looking into it...

Maybe Stockholm doesn't get quite as snowy as Montreal in December...

David
We had a little snow 3 or 4 weeks ago, I was happy, I put the skies on and went flying.
But now we only have rain all the time, our flying field is a small lake now so I need pontons to fly.
It is 10 inches high in the parking zone and much higher on the strip like 20 or so inches.

Thanks for the link, to bad I'm so bad a building(I practise every day thoe).

Take care.
(sorry for the bad spelling, it's bed time)

You may be able to heat the fuse with a heat gun and twist it back into shape a little at a time..

Martenson,

Can you show us with pictures the way the fuse of the Mach 1 is twisted?
When it is the tailcone, maybe a solution is to open the devision seam on the bottomside of the tailcone and remount this is the straight position of the fuse.

Before make any pictures, clean up your workbenche, because you cannot make pictures outside now I read! (LOL).

Martenson,

A little off topic, but I found this Crusader pic and thought you'd like a copy.

Martenson,

I just restored a Aviomodelli Mach 1 which has an ABS fuse.
Also this fuse gave some trouble, and I would really recommend to built a fuse from balsa.
The Mach 1 is really a beautiful plane, and it is worth the trouble.
Attached you find a picture from a few weeks ago with my Mach 1 almost finished.
It has a set of Goldberg retracts, and an O.S. 61 engine.
Last weekend it flew for the first time since 28 years, and it flew very good
So don't give up on the Mach 1!

Succes,

Gert

Thanks for the nice words!

Today I made some pictures while flying the mach 1.
I will try to attach them to this message.
I also tried to start a new thread about the Aviomodelli Mach 1 but for some reason I get a failure message back.
So I will try again tomorrow.

Regards,
Gert

RE: Bad luck with my Mach 1

I have put my Mach1 aside and will save it for a rainy day.
I might build a balsa fuse some day, now I have to many models going on.

Thanks.

Gert, nice looking bird:D
