What is it?

A buddy of mine brought this over. I have no idea what it is. There is a flat spot on the bridge of it's nose and pockets in the fuse to except the leading edge of the wing. If anybody knows what it is please chime in.

RE: What is it?
I believe it is an IM products Corsair. I have one that I built back in 1990 or so that my grandfather bought new in the 70's. I think you might have the .60 size version. Mine was a .40 size. The forward wing root is a bit different, but the rest of the plane right down to the balsa longerons in the aft-fuse that were put in during the layup.

RE: What is it?
Corsair/acroknight or Corsair MKII? I was looking at the 40 ish size plane and it was a top engine. This thing is a side engine. It's pretty big, I didn't measure it but seemed around 65-67" Anybody have any pics or drawing??? Instruction??? Seems to be missing the servo tray and although it's easy to make one I'd like to make one that looked like the original. Thanks
Jeff, got any photos? |
RE: What is it?
Yes, I agree. it's a Corsair / Acro-Knight.
A buddy of mine had one of the Acro-Knight 45's and it was just right with a 60. You'll like it, I suspect! Regards, Dean Pappas |

Hello, I saw your plane and I thought I would show you a photo of a Corsair Acro Knight 60 I was flying back in 1980 in Okinawa Japan. I started out on the IM Model Products Cessna 177 Cardinal in the photo. Eventually I was able to fly this Pattern Plane before I left Okinawa. Also in the photo is my instructor Mr Miyazato's Zero plane. The Corsair Acro Knight had an Enya 60x, and the fuselage was broken behind the wing and repaired. You can see it in the photo. The Acro Knight was destroyed while I was stationed at Edwards AFB CA. Edited this to upload a photo of the original Corsair, with it's designer Isao Matsui at a F3A championship in the late 70's, he later started IM Model Products, "IM" for Isao Matsui. This might be the Corsair Mk2, I don't know the difference between the Mk2 and the Acro Knight.

RE: What is it?
MAN published a design back in the 70's I believe of a Corsair 2. I wonder if it's the same model as being talked about here. I have the article at and will check then.

RE: What is it?
Looking at the photos of the wing, it appears as if the wing was glassed with the retracts still mounted.
Really? |
