i am ready to cut/sand the bevel on my blue angel control surfaces leading edge. looking for a more precise way than just freestyle sanding. thanks.

I have simply glued triangle stock onto LE's before and it works fine. But, most of the time I use a small razor plane. If you have a router stand for your Dremel you can use a chamfer bit in it.

You (and everyone else) may already know this?? I got this little thingy-ma-bob somewhere along the way...Probably not what your looking for but may come in handy for touch up sanding after the router?? Anyhow I already took the pics so I thought I'd post them..he he :D

Don't sand free hand. Draw guide lines top/bottom/front edge and use a long block to even the bevel after planing. My favorite block is a piece of 2x4 cut to fit a half sheet of sandpaper with one side planed/belt sanded flat. The half sheet is pulled up the sides and thumb tacked to the block making a very controlable/versatile 9"x 3.375" sanding tool. Just tear the sandpaper using a straight edge on the back side.

Yeah that may be it!! I have a Cub too...Was thinking either that or maybe my Goldberg Ultimate Bipe...I forget..

It's a handy little unit though... :D

This is the same technique that I use. With a razor plane, you can get very close to your finished shape.

my free hand comment meant a long block sander but i hate holding the piece and trying to sand it. i don't even like placing it on the edge of the work table and block sanding it that way, it's still hard to hold firm.

Several years ago I picked up three sanding "stones" with different size half round groves. They are about 100 grit and are 12" long square. They work real well for rounding leading edges and trailing edges prior to installing control serfaces like rudder, alerons, etc. Don't recall where they came from but over the years I never saw a tool I could not do without. However, the one Atlanta shows came from an old Goldburg kit, don't recall which one but included in parts cut outs. I made another out 1/8 ply at 90 degrees about 6" long with varying grit sand paper which works pretty well. Then again the razer plane is an excellent tool for any type of rounding block balsa.
