yep it was a lot. All of the green ones are MK gear. This is the first time I have even seen a set of the IM products gear. They are NICE. Distributed by Circus Circus.
Anyone know anything about the Royal Gear? They look like copies of the MKs.

Jeff,

great find! I think MK used to manufacture gear for several vendors back in the day. I've bought MK gear that have been packaged by EZ. Royal, I assume the kit maker, might have just bought mechanicals from MK and packaged them. I suspect they are manufactured by MK rather than being copies.

David.

Yes, I'm almost positive that Royal retracts are actually MK gear. I think MK may have cut kits for Royal (the MK and Royal Spirit of St Louis kits are identical)at least during the 'early' years until Marutaka did the kitting (I also wonder if Marutaka was a spinoff of MK - MK kitted several scale kits in the late '60s / early '70s then focused on pattern/aerobatic aricraft exclusively) . Actually, I believe the 'Royal' name is a US name and not the original manufacturer.
Great acquisition - you should be set for mechanical retracts for a while!!

The Royal Packaging says made in Taiwan. MK were made in Japan. You can tell that while the Royas, work fine and look to be good gear, they are not as smooth and precise as the MK.
The IM gear really impressed me. I have never seen them before. Every moving part on those gear has nylon bushings or slides. There is no metal to metal, or even metal to plastic wear surfaces. I had an IM kit and loved the hardware that came with it even though it was metric and I built this plane back in the early 90s when kits were still being built and people bought hardware and stuff. Metric hardware was non-existant.
Royal was the US name for Maratuka.

Jeff,

Some people give a whole new meaning to the word lucky..:) Are you sure some of those weren't supposed to go down the road a little ways??????????:D:D. Let me know when you're ready to get rid of that golden horse shoe you have. I'll be more than happy to hold on to it for a while.

Happy Thanksgiving Buddy.

Good score. Where did you find all that stuff ? If you send me the Royal Gear's, I will examine them for you. It will take about two years to get a good look at 'em. :D I'll see if they work, give them a good test.

So how much is it gonna cost me for the IM retracts? I have an orange classic Omega that has broken (and "repaired") retracts that need replacing.

Guys, earlier this morning I was tidying up around my shop and found a pair of OK Models retracts/mains that I flew briefly on my SK Speeda 60
back in 1989-90 at the Nationals in Sportsman. My question is, what is the difference in these retracts compared to the Mk's or Im's. Just curious and thought I would ask. Thanks__Everette
