RE: TOP FLITE TAURUS
Expensive Wood.......... I had access to a Vic's 9' Taylorcraft, this was one of the original big stuff. If anyone on here remember's that company, you are a senior citizen, like me. It was in my uncle's basement, paid $79.95 for it, 1968. My uncle passed on, I was supposed to inherit it. Well, it disappeared, probably along with a lot of stuff.

Another just ended a couple days ago for close to $500... I myself just got a NIB kit (private sale) from a member in my club, at a great non-inflated price. FB |
RE: TOP FLITE TAURUS
FreeBird - The two picture's I posted above, are two different kits. I will take a chance, here are the numbers. The RCU police may discard them.

RE: TOP FLITE TAURUS
Poppin' out of woodwork. Maybe money is needed. Once they are gone, they are gone. I have a few I wish I would have kept, but am stocking up again. How about the Taurus guy, Cees ? I figured he would buy both of them, for braggin' right's.

RE: TOP FLITE TAURUS
I don't Cees would buy them, they aren't to his specs!
I think Cees has been banned. I haven't seen any posts by him is a few weeks now. Can anybody confirm this? FB |

RE: TOP FLITE TAURUS
There was one about a month ago that went for around $270, $500, whew. I guess okay if you collect, glad I don't. I build and fly and try to keep em in one piece (well two if ya count the wing). Too many options out there at much more reasonable prices, if you want to fly em. Okay, and the Sees (C) thing, you guys hit on the head, someone should've hit.....
Well, at least the hemorrhoidal itch is gone! hook57 |

RE: TOP FLITE TAURUS
Think this Freebird. You can take one of these Taurus kit's, and duplicate it. Right down to the box and plan's, and cut the wood. Have to watch, you may cut the kit wood better then what is original.
Is there any way this cannot be done, other then having some water stain's on the box, etc. You can brown out the plans, put water stains on the box, just take some tobacco, mix with some water, sprinkle it on the box, set it in the sun, presto, a vintage kit. Even put some stale air in the box. Sure, it's a lot of work, good challenge. Antique dealer's have been making fake's for years. Build an old bench, beat it up with a chain, antique it, big buck's. Look at the 1969 L-88 Corvette's. 427 - 435 HP. GM made, I think, about 89 of them, actual production. How many registered in the US, last I heard, 108. There are guy's that can re-stamp a pad on a block, get some phony paperwork, fool most. Crank |
RE: TOP FLITE TAURUS
Hey crank, but how to get you get the wood to go so 'fusty'? you know, like it's made from fairy floss?
|
RE: TOP FLITE TAURUS
Dunno, you are right, have to pass the smell test.

RE: TOP FLITE TAURUS
When I looked at that one I had to wonder who the helk was making popcorn packaging material back then; at least I don't recall ever seeing it in a kit from the sixties or even the earlyseventies (and we had our share of Mambos, FF Vikings, Skylarks, Falcon 56's, and a few Tuarus' too). I guess it was added to the box later....
