Team Texas headed for Tuscaloosa
Gary Fisher and I came up with the idea for the Texas Club 40 racers to head for the Tuscalosa Alabama Club-40 Race on August 4 2012.
I have spoken to Gary Fisher today and as it now stands him and Old Bob will be leaving Friday morning and driving straight through to AL.
I have a motor home that can seat 11 and a trailer to carry planes if I get enough people to fill it up it should be pretty cheap if we share expences. We will plan on leaving here Thursday and spend the night in Vicksburg Mississippi then after the race returning to Vicksburg and back to Texas on Sunday. Hotels in Vicksburg are around $100.00 there are 3 beds on the MH if someone wants to stay in it.
I am also looking into some T-shirts for all coming from Texas I am thinking along the lines of something with the Texas flag and the words Team Texas. Something that we could wear for this race in Alabama and the Club 40 nats here in Waco in October.
Let me know if you are intrested in either a seat on the "Bus" or a shirt.

Eric,
we do flying starts down here. We also do jot down the heat times of each pilot once he crosses the finish line of the 10th lap. I guess it will be up the CD in T-town to decide regarding the heat times though ?
I recall reading that you guys out there do the rise off ground starts?
All I can say to ya is,.... y'all had best reinforce your wing halves good!! We got some guys down here that are going ballistic when the zero horn sounds and they cross the start line. Better practice up your dives and pull-outs boys
It might just get reeeeeel interesting. [X(]

Hey guy's I have seen the T-Shirt designs that Ryan has come up with they look great! If I knew how to attach a text file I would show them to you, but then I don't know if I want the enemy to see them until we all show up. Red shirts with Team Texas on them with the Texas & Alabama flags on them and Club 40 racing. They will probably be 5 to 10$ each... Now the 6 XXXXXXL sizes may be 30$ LOA
Let me know how many an sizes
I don't know if they can put individual names on them or how much that would cost, but if you are interested I will find out.

Jim, Eric yes, we use a countdown clock owned by Battman, aka Tim Batt.
There will be a 3 minute call to get them cranked up and all in the air. Usually this doesnt take all of the 3 minutes, so if everybody is good to go, the starter guy then starts the 30 second countdown clock. It sounds off at 20 seconds, then 10 then again at zero. Meantime you are hovering around out there somewhere deciding on where you need to be to time yourself to get the best start possible . The clock also has a second hand that you can use to judge yourself by. At the zero horn you want to be pretty darned close to the starting line but NOT to cross it if you are a little too fast because if you do go over the start line before zero, you then have to do a penalty loop OVER the start line BEFORE you reach the first pole. Otherwise should you 'jump start' and NOT do the penalty loop, you get penalized and you dont want that to happen [&o]

RE: Team Texas headed for Tuscaloosa
Guy's we try to have two turn judges at all times (if possible) and try to give the pilots the best call we can on cuts !!! We also started using two people with each pilot !! One for his caller and one for his timer . Both help the score keeper (Starter) know where his pilot finished. This system has worked very well in the past and has cut down a lot of missed calls... Our turn Judges word is final !!
If the two guys cant make a good call together the judgement goes to the pilot.. Most of this has also cut down on some (BUT NOT ALL) of the arguments ..
Also, we have a score board that we post each heat result, so everybody knows where he is in the points, leading up to the A&B Main.
After the 6 heats are run we total the points, check for any ties (Fly them off) then take the top 8 scores with the top 4 in the "A"
Main and the last 4 to the "B" Main !! In the past these have produced some unbelevable races because all the top flyers are going heads up. Can't wait !! This is gona be FUN

We run the tank that comes with the Kit or a 6oz replacment tank !! We made the change to speed up the start because of the time it takes to fill a bladder tank, everybody said that it was not any advantage to run it . Sooo we use a stock clunk tank !!! don't have to go out and buy somthing ya dont need !!!! Everybody fills out of the same can !!!
