Default Club 40 racing in North Carolina or South Carolina

Are there any races scheduled for the end of this year? Have any races been scheduled next year? I have not seen many posts for this end of the country.

Doug D. do you have a schedule for the Tenn area for next year?

twitte1;

I'm going to assume you are talking to me, Doug Bebensee regarding racing in TN.

We haven't set the schedule for next year yet. I'll let everyone know when the racing schedule is finalized.

I am fairly certain we will have a bunch of C40 races in this area in addition to our regular Q-400, Warbird, and 1/4 scale F1 classes.

Vic,

Yes, I am working on having two planes this time. So if I put one in the trees, I can still compete. Is Quickie 25 the only class to be flown? Maybe a friendly 1/2A or AT-6 heat.

The sanction will only be for Quickie 25. I don't think there will be any problem with a little friendly 1/2a, T-6, or C-40 grudge race or two after we do the Quickie 25 stuff.[8D]

Vic,

Will we need to put ski's on the gear? I am looking forward to the race. Let me know if I can help in anyway before or on the day.

Get your Quickie 25 ready. You will really like flying off our runway.
I will most likely start a thread about our race and others we know of soon. I do know that a kit for a racer has already been donated as a prize and we will be getting some kind of trophies or plaques made. Our club is behind the race all the way.

Yes John, in our meeting about jobs I covered the proper method of flagging the turn to those interested.
We will be using flags.

I've been out of commission for the past month for a reason other than my health. I'm doing pretty good on the Remicade treatments. What I've been up to is painting and carpeting the upstairs rooms in my house. For anyone who has ever seen the amount of stuff up there, you know that is a major task. It is done and and as soon as we finish refinancing the house I will be setting the shop back up. I've thought about having some serious Christmas parties up there.

I put a proposal for 8 races to the FAPA club. I was not able to attend the meeting. I was asking for a lot including leaving the pylons up all summer at Lowe's Motor Speedway. I was pleased that 4 races were approved in my absence. I still plan to run an 8 race Summer Pylon Series with races effectively every other weekend. I will just have to find other venues to host some of the races. I plan to run Club 40 and Quickie 25 only.

Trey, you and others can help by getting some demo dates at clubs in the NC/SC area. I have Ultra Portable Pylons and can pull the trailer loaded with demo planes and kits for sale. The truck I got after the accident seats 4-5. So we can go around and show people what club racing is all about. December is pretty well booked up for me, but we can get started after the first of the year.

Mike Langlois has his field ready and Jim Katz is building a cut light system. There is going to be at least one race at Mike's field. I think it is is April. I will post the flier when I get a chance.

The first race of the 2009 Hodges Hobbies Racing Series pylon race will be January 10th at the Hodges Hobbies in Americus GA for Quickie 500 (424) and Club-40. For this race we are asking for on-line registration so we can get the racing started a little earlier.

Trey, will do. The FAPA club meeting is this Thursday. I will have proposed dates with me.

I visited the Old Julian Airport on Saturday. It is a huge area. Mike Langlois (along with input from Jim Katz and others) has put a lot of effort into the facility. It will primarily be set up for the long and short AMA 3 pole courses. While the runway is bermuda grass, it will ne no problem for 428 and possibly Q-40.

A new web site is already online and will be unvieled in a week or so. I took some photos that mostly show the expanse of the place.

The FAPA club meeting was held last night. The schedule for the Club 40 and Quickie 25 Summer Pylon Series for 2009 schedule is:

7/11/2009

7/25/2009

8/8/2009

8/22/2009

This is effectively every other other weekend beginning the weekend after the July 4 weekend.

Also, a race date of 6/6/2009 was approved for David Waymer Park in Huntersville. This is a nice facility with a paved runway. It too will be a Club 40 and Quickie 25 race.

I will be updating the www.LowesRC.com web site soon.

Along with the 2 races at www.OldJulianAirport.com in April and October, that brings us to 7 races in North Carolina during prime time. That doesn't include the the Quickie 25 race that Vic has in January or any races that Jay Marsh and the High Point guys are running.

That should be plenty of racing for people in the Carolinas. Now get out there and make sure people are getting planes and getting them ready while the weather is not so nice.

This year is rounding out real nice. For a novice like me this is great. I will have alot of "on the course training".

I know that everyone may not go to ALL of the races, but it looks like there will be a full year of racing.

For the race next weekend at Lowe's, is the course going to be open for practice Friday afternoon or any practice fields in the area?
