Things that make you say WHY? Those servos are $12.00 at the local hobbyshop, why would you pay for shipping on that and wait three days to get them???????

when I see a advertisement for free shipping on all orders and when I go to the checkout they charge 30.00 for oversize box fee on a box that would probably cost that to ship! Do they think we are that dumb that we don't know what they are doing.

What I found amusing when I came home and saw that box,, I ordered only the 2 servos, which qualify for "Parts express" shipping, which is $5.99 (I can't drive back and forth to my crappy LHS for that) and I had a promo code for $10 off a $50 order,, so I figures it would come in a padded envelope, which it did,, just didn't expect it to also be in a 12x10x8 box.
At first I thought, gee they sure want to protect those servos, but the envelope was just up against the bottom of the box. Just seams wasteful really.

Amazon often does the same thing. I have gotten stuff in small, appropriate size, boxes; but most orders come in big boxes. I assume they try to stock as few box sizes as possible and have rate deals with the shippers. The company I work for pays about 8 bucks to send FedEx priority overnight envelopes between Texas sites. It would cost me more than 20 to send them from and to the same zip codes.

As long as Tower customers sit back and pay, this will continue. Complain first, then post.
Better yet, go to propshophobbies dot com. They rarely charge more than a buck or so over actual shipping, will match prices, and ship faster than Tower. I've gotten stuff the next day via USPS. No airbag shipments.

Just for giggles I checked your place,, they want $7.30 for shipping and the servos are $2 more each regular price,, $66.28 total,
Tower with the discount code and $5.99 shipping was $51.97,, I'm happy dealing with Tower.
I'm thinking they must get a discount on shipping if the fill so much cubic feet of a container,, I can't see any other reason to use such a large box for small items

You're right there, but they'll match any published current price with a phone call or e-mail. I've always come out ahead, plus am supporting a 40+yr-old mom-n-pop hobby store. I shop local hardwares rather than Lowes too. Only step in a Wally world as a last resort, just me.

Based on what I see there that is just a drop ship e commerce site, sure the sire owner may be based out of a real shop,, but I'm guessing most stuff would ship from a distributor warehouse not that brick/mortar shop.. The only difference is who gets the mark up and how much they ping the buyer. I like to get the best price, $15 isn't chump change on a $50-$60 order,, Just me.
