*** The Toledo Show 2013 ***
Well, it's that time of the year again.... TOLEDO!!! We are here on site to cover the show again for RCU. The show is incredible as always. I've already spent to much money (as usual), and will probably spend more as well!!! Anyway, we are going to becovering a little bit differently than we have in the past. We will still be working up a full article in the RCU Magazine. But in addition to that we will be feeding out little "teasers" as we get the coverage completed. So, with th that in mind, here is the first "teaesr".
Horizon Hobby is announcing at the show a new like of Evolution gas engines. These are really exciting to see. We're talking about gas engines down to the 46-ish size glow engine up to a 120 sized gas engine. Here is a portion of the interview.

I'll post some more tonight!

Here's another new product that we saw that we thought was just really cool. At the Hobbico booth Flyzone is coming out with a new line of small aircraft that was just really cool. These planes are called Air-core. Basically you're major investment is in the power core which consists of a small unit that contains the electric propeller, spinner, motor, esc, receiver, servos, and pushrods for the control surfaces. The pushrods are connected together by strong magnents. Now this is really cool because you can pull out the entire power core and place it in a different airplane. Currently they have a trainer body, a P-51 Mustang, and a Focke Wulf 190. They have several more planes in development that will be out before too long. The power core only takes a few seconds to pull out and put into a new body. This is a really neat idea and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of.

Oh trust me, there is plenty more to come. It was a very VERY good Toledo show. I'm planning on posting the coverage a little different this year than from last year. Of course we will be doing the full magazine write that we always do. But this year I'm going to try something new. As soon as I get home later this week I'll get to work on editing out the coverage. What I am going to try to do is every night that I am editing video I'm also going to edit up some little "teasers" that I'll post here every night. They may range anywhere from bits of the booth visits we did to bits of the interviews we did to pictures montages of the display models to numerous other bits and pieces of the show. I'm hoping that if I do it this way there won't be a huge vacuum between the end of the show and the coverage going up. Hoping it will help quench everybody's thirst for show news.
We'll see how it works.

Any new biplanes?????
Something about 36 - 40" span, where a 40 would be about the biggest motor you'd want to put in it....
Just "A sweet little flyer."

Which model won best of show?
Which model won best of show?
Sorry that I don't have a picture at this time. I was't shooting still pictures at the show so I don't have one with me to upload. I just have the list of winners given to me by the show organizers.

Call me biased, but the best looking planes at Toledo were at The World Models table - they have a 'supersized' pattern ship, but even cooler was the $160 RTF pattern foamie. Super solid construction, ready to fly in probably 30min, lots of attention to detail, and $160?!
On a slight tangent, that big fat curvy looking BOAT was one of the coolest things there too - any pics? That thing was amazing! Sort of like a cross between a tugboat, fishing boat, and lobster boat, and very beautifully done.
