We are in the initial stages of setting up a new flying site on my friends 65 acres (part of a much larger package owned by the family) which will permit unlimited flying. It is slow going due to other commitments but the owner is into RC and is real eager. he has the heavy equipment to put in the field. The location was used by his father to land his full scale planes and is still registered. it is a thousand feet behind his home. [/QUOTE]

Some guys really do have all the luck......or at the very least a lot of it.

Having the opportunity to install a landing strip is nice! but I know it will be quite a task to actually accomplish it. and for now nothing is going to be done because the temperatures here are consistently above 100 degrees f yesterday it was 106 in my garage Indoor honeydo's is the name of the game.

I was thinking this site is quite large and several of us have hung in and became a family, but what does our family look like? How about a mug shot of those of you who have not done so in the past. Especially if you are holding a plane. .................This could get scary.

Donny, what kind of surface are you guys planning for the new flying site? That is one hansom looking Kaos too!

Well you asked for it so here goes. This is me with my modded '93' Great Planes 68" w/span Big Stik 60 powered by a Zenoah G20 converted to CDI by Ralph Cunningham. It has a very brisk performance and with an AUW of just on 9.00 lbs it flies like a dream and the wing currently sports it's 2nd Monokote covering.

Thanks Telemaster. Since that picture was taken the landing which was for a Goldberg Wild Thing (to provide adequate clearance for the 16" prop) was shortened to give a much more pleasing stance.

I found this and I thought all of my fellow do-it-yourselfers could use a laugh! Put the cup down before watching it will save cleaning the monitor and keyboard later.

Hi Mike, this ads reminds me of some BS a service guy tried to pull on me at Quick change oil place about 25 years ago. I had just come in and they where changing my oil in my car. this guy comes in with a piece of wood that someone had drawing 4 boxes on it with 4 different types of oil. He told me that oil automatic transmission oil was bad and said I needed to change it. I said no I did not need to change because I have a standard transmission! there is sucker boring everyday!

take care

Was it a Jiffy Lube? They got busted in multiple states for that kind of stuff and one franchisee agreed to pay 35 to 47 million in cash and services for spamming customers. I don't see how they stay in business.

Somebody has put up on YouTube a number of stills taken in this year's Coupe Des Barons. The backing track is a bit naff but imagine my surprise to find my Boris the first model featured! The official video is still being worked on.

Official video of La Coupe Des Barons 2018 attached. Boris features at about 13.09 but there is no film of him in flight mainly because he only spent about eight minutes in the air during the entire competition! I still didn't finish dead lastr and will do better than 53rd position next year.

I have installed an SC 32 with a fancy exhaust which should make him more competitive but I don't like the sound it makes. I'm a fourstroke man at heart. I may refit my OS 40 FS. It won't be as fast but it will have style and I hope to be the leading four-stroke competitor!

No one works with electronics anymore, and that was RS mainstay. Those that did are dead or dying off. Some day RS will discover it is a throw away world and electronics no longer get repaired, just replaced with the latest and greatest must haves.

That is is, but last few times I went in looking for cps or resistors and asked about them, the people working there had that dumb blank look and I swear they wanted to know if I wanted fries with that. I have a 3 speed RF fan controller with timer that is in an air filtration unit, a cap blew and two resistors burned up, but RS has no clue what they are or where to get them, so I gave up. Still trying to figure out what to use to wire it up. I have the motor wires figured out, just need a 120v 3 speed switch for it.

It was about 35 years ago my friend was riding with me in my 68 chev p/u and the glove box poped open and my spare distributor cap dropped into his lap. This old WWII transport pilot smiled and said " There aren't many guys like you left."
I do miss Radio Shack.

I loved Radio Shack. They had drawers full of stuff, including the tiny 12 volt bulbs I needed to get my instrument panel to light up again. Oh well. I`ll still root for them.

Found a 3 speed 120v fan switch on Ebay quite recently. There were quite a few to choose from too.
