We got an early start on Christmas, Saturday we went up to Kansas to celebrate with our No. 2 son's family. We exchanged gifts then took the two grandsons (8 and 13) to the Wichita Fire Museum housed in a historic 1906 Fire station and the the Wichita Aviation Museum. The Aviation museum had a rare Beech Starcraft and Staggerwing which I drooled all over! Fun was had by all!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, you all.

I’m going to a Christmas Day gathering. This is my contribution. A Spanish style picnic roast; traditionally served at Christmas. Just finished seasoning it. Should have seasoned it a day or two ago. It will get slow roasted 5-7 hours. Guaranteed it will be devoured in short order.

Tomorrow I will make a Spanish custard dessert. That should go fast too. Good eating ahead.

MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Fresh ham! You can't beat it! We will only have a small group for dinner Christmas, 6 including the wife and I, so she took out a Prime Rib roast and will serve it with twice baked potatoes.

Plan to double smoke a brown sugar glazed ham. I have a Pit Boss pellet smoker that makes really good food. Have had only one brisket come out so-so mainly because it lacked a fat cap, but everything comes out juicy. Sunday had smoked a 3 pound boneless turkey breast with just salt and pepper for the rub with a sprinkle of Habenaro citrus olive oil tht added a slight lemon kick to it, not enough to make it spicy, but if you knew what to look for you can detect a hint of it.

I replaced the Pit Boss controller for a Savannah Stoker one that will auto ignite if the flame goes out, 2018 Thanksgiving nearly lost my eyebrows when the flame went out and I didn't know what happened and then restarted it. It went BOOM when the igniter kicked on. Needless to say, @ 4 AM I was no longer sleepy when that happened. Mmm just thinking of the double smoked ham is making my mouth water.

Traditonal turkey with all the trimmings for me and Miss Blue Eyes. Her son in law is doing all of the cooking. I'm providing the wine!

CHRISTmas day! isn't it odd how at this time of year believers, non believers and people of all religions and faiths celebrate.? The scriptures say our Savior was born this day but many do not know his name and wont acknowledge him or know what that means.

Me and mine do not acknowledge the fat guy in the red suit we feel this red suited guy is a diversion from the truth... None the less we wish one and all a Blessed and divine Holiday season. "GOD" bless.

I like your photos. Remind me of the good old days. I started trying to fly the ones with a string on them but it seemed the engines were always difficult to get running. You flew them in a circle. The ones I had were always a real challenge. That was back in 1962.

We celebrate His birth on Dec. 25th, but He was most likely not born in the winter. The shepherds would not have been out in the fields at night at that time of year, and I don't think even Caesar would have forced people to travel at that time of year. It's more probable He was born in the spring. But whenever He was born, He is still the greatest gift God ever gave to man. He paid a debt he did not owe, because we owe a debt we cannot pay.

I always had a feeling we have the time of His birth and crucifixion switched.

Assimilation

When one religion or regime took over another they often used dates that were familiar to the old religion to ease the transition.

For example, the Pagans celebrated the winter solstice in late December.

The tree is a Pagan ritual, so makes sense. Where does fatman come in though? You know, when you think about it, if lying is a sin, then we are all damned because we lie to our children about some fictitious fatman in a suit who plays with elves on a holiday that is to celebrate the birth of Christ. I have to stop thinking about it, boggles the mind. LOL

There you go! Don't think too much about it. Eat a couple of holiday snacks or whatever you guys have at this time of year and let it go. You'll feel better that way.

They also exchanged gifts so that's where Christmas presents come in.

As for Santa Claus bringing gifts to well-behaved children, in some eastern European cultures, I believe that there is another figure who turns up to punish naughty children!

Posted this thread (below) in the ARF section without any response. Thought I would copy it here where there is a better chance someone might remember the EZ series of models from the 80s.
Recently retired and in the process of getting back into RC after a multi decade absence. I have 2 EZ kits; a Box Fly 40 (glow) and a Bud Light Laser(glow). One that hasn't been flown in 30 years (Box Fly 40) and one that hasn't been assembled (Bud Light Laser). Any reason these shouldn't be flown? Anything specific I should pay attention to when preparing/assembling them for flight?

Any feedback will be much appreciated.
