Hi David and a happy birthday to you sir! fantastic looking airplane you have there! I went to a a swap meet down in Grandbury TX yesterday and there was few more sellars there as it has been canceled for the last two years due to covid. I did not see anything that i could live with out so I walked around and talked to some of the club members from my local RC club here in Wichita Falls TX. I saw that thread that you mentioned earlier about how many RC airplanes do you own. I believe that I now have two flyable and one airplane currently being repaired and 17 kits to build in the near future. There are two guys that have at least 50 to a hundred. It was nice to see this event going on as hobby shops are becoming a rare breed now. I hope to have my kaos going by the end of the week. take care

At the present time I just have one plane in original SOVIET markings - a very old control-line P-63 King Kobra that I originally built in Alaska in 1973, covered in silkspan & SIG dope. It still flies and it has its 3rd covering, but still in original colors/markings.
NOBODY tells me how to cover/paint/color my planes.

Fair weather is forecast for Wednesday so I'll get in some Baron flying practice prior to La Coupe in June. I may even fly my BE2 but before that I have two days of intensive gardening. As intensive as my seventy-four year old knees can manage that is!

New-old crumudgeon here. I grew up with control line. My dad was into it and included my brother and I. We had Testor's Cement in our blood. Dad built a Waco bipe from scratch with a third-line setup for throttle so he could do touch-and-gos. Fast forward over half a century... I just discovered modern RC, EPOs and LiPos. FMS Super Cub foamie ordered and currently up to my eyeballs learning NX6 programming and Real Flight.
Nice place you have here. Happy flying!

Welcome aboard, Sub Chaser, good to hear from someone suffering from OCD like the rest of us (Old, Cranky and Dangerous) who also is a control line aficionado (ES, e.g. fan).
With all the crazy stuff going about us reminds me as though I have a front seat (again) watching the unwholesome (because of, well you know ) 2006 movie, Idiocrasy

With all the werld wide gubmet and in-dust-tree nonsensical horse puckey about us, I feel like we are here, there, now.

A bloke goes into a Moscow newsagent, buys a copy of Pravda, the most widely read Russian newspaper, glances at the front page then without reading anything else, tosses the newspaper into the waste paper bin.
The next day he does exactly the same thing.
The day after that he buys the paper, glances at the front page and throws it into the waste paper bin. As he's leaving the newsagent says, "Excuse me, for the last three days you've bought a paper, glanced at the front page then you've immediately thrown it away. Why are you doing this?"
"I'm looking for an obituary."
"But the obituaries aren't on the front page!" says the newsagent.
"This one will be," the man replied.
In the depths of suffering, the human spirit rises to the top!

Hello guys!
I have been house hunting all over the place and I am burned out. The prices are astronomical, six figures for a used home is the norm. Many homes are so far overpriced it's absurd, the crazy thing is they are selling. Houses are selling over $250,000 on less than one acre and require $200,000 in upgrades and repairs. So we are changing our tactics and looking strictly for acreage and will build to suit our taste, our whole family is in on this, I called my realtor today to put my land on the market so I don't expect to be here for very long. My radiation therapy starts the first of April, It will be a five day a week thing for maybe a year or so UGH!

Sorry to hear that. An old friend of mine went through a year of heavy chemo and beat leukemia back in the late 80's. No matter how bad he felt he kept a smile on his lips and said that it "beats the alternative". I know it's easy for me to say not having gone through it, but I credit his recovery to his positive attitude, courage and strength of will. Keep your spirits high, you will beat this too!!!

Thank you gentlemen................ I am not as concerned about the cancer as I am about the treatments interrupting my life style to say nothing of the cost to me.

I have been offered a fully built DB Sport & Scale Blackburn Monoplane free gratis and for nothing. Apparently it needs a little fettling. The builder is another ex-pat Englishman returning to England. Not sure whether to accept it as I plan to do likewise at some stage and I am trying to reduce my model collection. I suppose that I could sell it on but I have an old but sound Laser 150 V Twin currently looking for an airframe...

Between Real Estate and trucks, the prices are outrageous, yet people are still buying. Never would I have ever imagined paying $5,000 - $10,000 OVER MSRP! Nor will I. Hell I saw a $98,000 F450 sell for $148,000!!!
Donny, check out material costs on having a house built and finding a contractor. I know buying land and building sounds good, but materials are so high and scarce that even building a home will be costly. If you can, look into manufactured homes instead of building. That could save you a bundle. I took a serioous look at selling and moving to Wisconsin, but like you found out, land prices are very high and whatever structures are on it are in need of a LOT of repair unless you are willing to shell out $500K or more.

I picked up the Blackburn Monoplane referred to in Post 10464 this morning. It's an enormous thing! The fuselage is 1981mm (78") long! However, I went flying yesterday afternoon, practicing for La Coupe Des Barons, and one of my club mates expressed an interest in it. I'll probably be left with it once he sees it!
Central France is beautiful at this time of year; the blossom is quite lovely. However, very cold weather is forecast for the weekend so I doubt that we will have many apples and cherries this year. I certainly won't be flying that's for sure.
