old timers look here must be 50+ years only

I have a short bed, and the vast majority of those conversions are long beds. What I do find are usually in worse condition than what I have now, but bent up, dented and scratched instead of rusted. They are also 3 times what it is costing to repair and that doesn't include driving down there to get it as most don't ship. Been addressing this situation for a year now and finally settled on just replacing the rusted out parts. Dorman makes the repair panels and crossmembers, and I ordered the body panel and inner wells from LMC Truck. With paint I am looking at ~ $1000 to get it repaired vs ~ $3K for a used bed, IF one can be found. The ones I did find had holes in the floor, dents and scratches to be repaired, and being mine is a King Ranch, would require a complete two tone paint job. With any luck I can keep the repairs under the fender flares and only need to do a little clear coat blending on the drivers side and not do a complete repaint of the box side. While at it, going to pull the bumpers, clean and block them and give them a new coat. Truck will look almost like new when done, already drives better than new after I replaced the front end components a couple weeks back.

I've done a fair amount of business with LMC myself. They are also the parent company for Victoria British. I had an F-350 for a few years. They pull like a locomotive but after we sold off the travel trailer the gas mileage didn't make much sense.

I started welding the front cross member in place and realized rather quickly that Flux core is not the way to go. The wire is too heavy to get a decent weld without burn through and since it has to be stitch welded, the slag buildup was causing erratic welds. I wound up going to farm and fleet and breaking down and finally bought a cylinder of gas and gas wire in .024. The welds were looking ugly, but now using the correct method will go faster and look cleaner. Just have to clean up the regulator first, it was in a box and got peed on by cats, so has some tarnish on the tank side.

My sister, Sue has come to the end of her chemotherapy but had the misfortune to contract the latest strain of Covid so has not had the opportunity to see the specialist yet. As of yesterday she was Covid free.

It's certainly a very beautiful place down there and yes the hills were alive with the sound of airplanes, unfortunately, mine only made a brief contribution!
Next year's event will be held at Jonnage which is a suburb of Lyon, the second-largest city in France. The venue is not as pretty as that of Ste Marie d'Alloix but it is seventy miles closer to my home. It appears that the two clubs are alternating the organisation of the competition.

Yesterday morning dawned calm and sunny so I went flying with my Belgian friend and trainee pilot Frans. Frans is very enthusiastic but inexperienced and tends to rush things. He likes to build models and together we built an electric powered Ben Buckle Junior 60, originally a free flight design dating from 1946. I learned to fly on a Junior 60 so there's no reason why Frans should not learn on one also. There was hardly any wind and I took him up on the buddy box giving Frans control once the model was airborne. He managed his first ever landing followed by two more good landings on the next two flights. On the fourth flight he suddenly said that he had no control whatsoever. I thought that he was just panicking and took over but sure enough I had absolutely nothing! No rudder, elevator or motor! We could only watch as the Junior 60 lived up to its free flight origins. It glided gracefully across the flying field to crash into the hedge! Apart from a loosened glue joint between the tailplane and fuselage, there was no damage.
It was an impressive site!
There must have been an immediate seccesion of electricity supply to the rx for this to happen. I suspect a badly soldered joint at the connector.
