Default Advice for the new guy

Hello,

I am brand new to the world of RC Cars and I am looking for a llittle advice before I dive in.

My question is what it the best way to start? Do I go with a RTR or do I buy a kit and build it so I have a better understanding of how the cars work?

I know I am looking to start with an electric car or truck and that my budget is capped at $500.

Beyond that I am a little at a loss. I am happy to do the research myself. I am just having a hard time finding the specific information I am looking for.

Any help you can offer would be most appreciated!

Thanks!

Hello!
You didn't state a power source (electric, glow. or gas) so you need to determine that first. If you have limited mechanical skills and limited experience with engines then you should steer clear of kits , and glow or gas power. Look for a rtr electric vehicle and you will gain experience as you learn to repair it and you won't have the frustration of dealing with engine tuning and maintenance.
Where and how you will be running it will determine what type and style vehicle; 2wd or 4wd,stadium or monster truck, buggy or street car, ect...
Stay away from the lower priced offerings as they are priced low for a reason! Look at something from Traxxas, Losi , or HPI.
Good luck .
