Default drone registeration

I did a google search for drone registration.
The first hit was federaldroneregistration.com
Its a fake. They want $25 for you to register.
The actual fee is $5.

Wow, you are not kidding. I did the same search and came up with the same site.

Cost is $24.99 for drone registration.

Here's the text of what they are doing for the extra twenty bucks!!!!

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will soon require every drone owner to register each drone that is purchased. If your drone is NOT registered you may be subject to the consequences defined in the pending U.S. Government drone regulation terms. Fill out the online Drone Registration Application in less than 5 minutes. Our agents will review your application for omissions and errors. Once the FAA's drone registration system goes live, our experts will start your registration process and confirmation will be emailed to you. At that stage, you will receive a registration number to mark on each drone that will be tied directly to the owner. Throughout this process, we will communicate any further registration requirements directly with you. We are always here to help with any questions that you may have. Quickly and easily start your pre-registration today for $24.99.

wow, it's amazing how quickly the crooks come out of the woodwork.

The problem is as long as they actually do the registration for you and get you the number it is completely legal. Basically buyer beware.

There is nothing illegal about it, or others that have cropped up. Some might actually say this is capitalism at it's finest. This is a service being sold, and as long as they complete what they said they will, nothing illegal or improper about it. There are plenty of reasons why someone might use this, but to the majority of us in the hobby its a no brainer. If the site however is stealing info and hacking accounts, obviously it's a problem.
