Park's for model airplanes.
In Milwaukee/Chicago area; Mil. cty. has a cty. park area sit aside for r/c flying on the southern edge of Mil. cty.
At bong state park there is an area for r/c flying, with a paved runway; this is controlled by DNR.
I wonder if this will be the future hope for our hobby?

It's 12 years since I've been at bong; the r/c field was before the dirt bike area but on the same road. It was right after the turn off from the main road,
the rocket area was across the road. The runway was a blacktop area and there was a frequency use board, which no one seemed to use.
The nice part was it was never crowded, bad part's were closed in spring time "bird nesting",closed during "horseback hunting"might scare horses, fall pheasant hunting, and a state park pass was required.
I see that as we are "using national airspace" to fly what ever we fly, these kind of areas well be the only way the government can
have total control.
I think that will probably be future of the hobby,it will cause a decline in participation. I think this is why older larger LHS are closing
they see the hand writing on the wall; three major ones have closed in Wi.

See my comments here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/club...about-now.html It is time in my opinion to move away from the traditional club and work together under the banner of the AMA to have permanant flying sites established in major population centers that could be enjoyed by all AMA members. When local governments began banning skateboarders from public places all they ended up with was a bunch of outlaws. But when they started building skate parks they ended up for the most part with law abiding citizens. Flying model airplanes should not be a crime. A co-op of modelers would work the same as it does for farmers competing against large Corporate farms.

The present U.S. president; stated when all this talk started about problems with " Drones",
that he would like a "national community based organization" to have control.
I think the AMA say's it either our rules or were out.
Drones are and will be used by utility companies, gov. agencies, industrial , and agricultural needs. I'm
sure there more then those.
There is absolutely a need for control; and these controls will, I hope include the hobbyist!
