Unhappy Miss this one -

I don't know of any -

I do know of at least one - NVRC used to lease a flying field in Arcola, VA.

You would go out Rt.50 west, past Chantilly and West Riding, and make a right turn onto a sign posted, 10 mph gravel road (Amethyst Ln or Ave?) that would lead through a grove of trees, past some private farm homes, and open up to the parking area for the airfield. Famed aeromodeler, Bill Winter referred to it as "Shangri-La" in his monthly column "Just for Fun" that was featured in Model Aviation magazine back then.

I also remember witnessing the Concorde on final approach numerous times to Wash/Dulles International that was only 5 miles away while flying models there.

I believe urban sprawl and expansion caused its ultimate demise.

They are usually well hidden under new housing developments and shopping centers.

I am terribly afraid my local flying field will soon meet its demise because of the WMA area director being such a mega creep! I have many better choice words for this guy but can't use them here!
We have been flying and taking care of this area for over 3 decades! And the old fella in charge of this district retired and this jerk took over and has made our field a nightmare to use.
this sight was a warbirds dream to fly at too.
time to find some place new I guess.. even our AMA director for our district could not make much headway.
