It is time to support your club and most of all it's members. With out members you have nothing. You need a smooth operating organization? It takes work and commitment but who cares as long as it works. To a lot of us it is what is left to others it is what was left, keep it interesting where ppl are proud to be a member and make it grow. A lot of ppl want to help but are discouraged by others and their reactions to what you do. Give us a chance every one is open to suggestions and will change if given a chance,

I keep getting asked that. I work better for them as an independent. I don't mind doing things asked of me but want no official part of them because I disagree with some policies. Field is public so I am not missing anything anyways

We've been real lucky here and have a fantastic new club in Arlington and were just starting out and participation so far has been real good. I am on the board which is something I never thought I would do but alas I have. We openly discuss what needs to be done but like most clubs we do have the few and in this case one person who feels it has to be his way or no way. He is quick to tell how great he was as a manager before he retired and now everyone is finding out he is a user. We are going crazy with this centered bozo and his greater then thou attitude but we the board are biting out tongues. He formed a work party last summer and sat on the tail gate of a P/U truck watching them work, when asked why he wasn't helping out he just said that he's a manager and he got them together and anyway he leaves the hard work to the grunts!!!!![X(] I could go on but this if this guy were to go no one would miss him and the meetings sure would go a lot smoother. there, now off my soap box and through venting![:@]

Well, all but a few, are basically kicked out of our club by the club/owner*, who as you know, can apparently do anything he wants, anytime he wants. As a flyer, a member and the landowner, he's never been an officer of the club in the time I have spent there. Slapping the rules down like some sort of radical third world officer, he has his own agenda and makes his own rules as he goes. If an officer in the club is not doing it his way, he just says get off my land i.e. DG and boom, before you know it you need a whole new crew to run the thing, all basically under the "its my way or the highway" mentality. He does very little in the line of work at the field as he has a manipulating way of getting everyone else to do it for him. Poor Tom, the lawn maintenance man at the club field, a man dedicated by the club/owner as a life member and our field marshall, I feel worse for him than anyone as while he sweat mowing the club field, this mans girlfriend was charged** with sexual favours in our clubhouse by our club/owner, Tom found out and was livid. If things for Tom were not bad enough, early 2004 he (Tom) was made to believe that she (Toms girlfriend) was in pornography on the internet, again by the club/owner and this caused Tom to quit our club, how degrading all of this must have been for the two of them. Can anyone tell me where it says an associate members girlfriend owes the club/owner sexual favours? I don't understand this line of thinking and because of this and other things, there are quite a few pilots who will not be rejoining IMAA in the 2005 season. Some of the guys would like to see me fly again and a couple of them convinced me to get my AMA# back, but I had been holding out on that for some time now, as I have watched the fiber of this organization torn to shreds by the very entity that wishes it stay alive. I have lost all respect for this person (the club/owner) and a lot of respect for the hobby. If this is the mentality of the people involved in this hobby, then I will never bring my grandchildren around a club to learn to fly. You're right RCO, It's time, and thats why i'm here. Alot of people are afraid to stand up and say these things are wrong, but I am here as their champion and a gauntlet has been thrown........ do we live in the dark ages, no, but we as a people must set standards, certain moral values and this issue has been a terrible burden for me

Larry it is not true that but a few have been kicked out. You were even sent a form for renewing your membership. The coulple who did not get forms either moved and we did not have a updated address or the said they would not become a member next year.

He did not join the club as he cannot fly, he is perhaps at a lesser intellectual level than most, yet he is a very kindly older gentleman who chose to mow our field and watch us fly at no additional expense to the club hence, associate member. His girlfriend is not accused of anything, but ashamed of what happened to her and IMHO would not consider the incident a fringe benefit. This was a matter of trickery so disgusting, yet I find you posting a mockery of the situation. I would like to know where you fly so I can keep my girlfriend at home should I go there. Please, though, feel free to bring your girlfriend as I would consider bringing the club/owner along. You do know how to mow grass, don't you? See the point being that if the shoe were on the other foot.....

See this thread, for me, is about what a club should be doing to get its membership on a more even playing field, taking care of and not advantage of, but this kind of thing is ruining our clubs all over. If your there just to take advantage of other members in the club, then perhaps you should leave (forever, never to return) before everyone else does. I spend alot of time with the handicapped, MRDD, we go bowling, special olympics, out to dinner; if I brought them out to the club, would it be ok to exploit them as well. This kind of behavior is intolerable and must never be allowed to happen. JMHO[]

P.S. I'll need to check, Is Springer on primetime in Kansas, go figure....[X(]

Let me give you a few perspectives to why I posted the way I did:

1. If you post here, expect different responses and attitudes toward the way you feel about your thread. Open up to some satire that may be posted in order to support your cause.

2. I was not mocking the injured parties (the man and his girlfriend) but supporting the the fact that He was doing a service to this land owner by mowing and she was being accused of doing wrongful things with this landowner. Unless it was true, then I don't want to know the details. However, the Mower and his girlfriend are being harassed by this thug.
"Men who join clubs" is referred to all of you in your club, as well, you are all the "girlfriend" in that you are being abused and being taken advantage of by this person. He degrades and accuses you therefore, you need to abandon him. You all joined this club, and you can all quit.

3. If this jerk of a land owner is so bad, then get away from him and persuade everyone else to. Sounds like he's a real loan shark.

4. Shoe on the wrong foot? Yup, I felt mocked, hurt, and angry that you would stoop so low, and so do the other members that I fly with that lurk here on RCU. I say lurk because many of them do not want the harassment that you will get if your vocal. I used to have my hometown posted until a few guys felt to start giving me some personal crap. We do not have this problem that you have so please don't associate me nor my fellow fliers with this scum of a landowner / member that you are unfortunately are dealing with.
You are welcome, and safe to fly with us at anytime.
