Default With the Wife's blessings....does yours?

How many of your RCU folk are relegated to keeping your birds in the storage shed, garrage, out of sight by the wife?

Mine tells me to please hang up my airplanes when done.

So I hang up [With her blessings] the Extra....

The nicest things about the hanger is.....Each one is ready to fly and charged up...Ready to fly. If it will fit in the bed of my Ford ranger great, if not...I let the wings hang out over the side and drive 1 1/2 miles to the flying field...No assembly required

Also not cool is my brother's Extra on the guest bed. I am sure that I will be reminded very soon to clear the bed as we have guests coming in a week.... A wife that wants you to hurry and build the next plane!!!

For the bedroom action......when I wake up each morning I am greeted by the Model Tec Magic and the SCREAM MACHINE smiling from each corner of the room. They also tuck me in at night[sm=redface.gif]

The guest room has an empty slot waiting for the EXTREME FLIGHT 50 CC bird. I try to imagine what will go here. Will it be an 88 inch MX2, or will EF bring me a midwing 300 Extra, Maybe a 89 inch Yak 55 or Yak 54 or Suhkoi..... No matter, whatever this guy builds.....

Yeah, my planes/cars/boats are all relegeted to the basement, which we've nicknamed "The Pit." There's no visible sign that I'm involved in the R/C hobby whatsoever upstairs, except for the occasional Tower Talk that comes in the mail.

If I even mentioned the idea of hanging airplanes in the house--she'd have a heart attack after she cut my---well, you know---off.

I keep mine in the basement. Fine with me though. I don't think I would even WANT to hang them in the house.

No way I'm hanging mine in the house, it would be too easy for her to count them. It's best that they stay out of her normal path.

I love my airplanes but I dont think even I would want them hanging around everywhere. I have a corner of a room in the house and my wife lets me have whatever I want in there. She has the other half of the room for sewing and stuff. It works out well. I do my best to keep my side reasonably neat!

Then there is always the garage. New planes sometimes get hung here for the first week and then we play musical airplanes.

My wife has never once questioned me about airplanes. I've openly told her what they cost ($50 each... just kidding) and tell her it's my passion... besides her...

She sees the fact that it is clean fun and healthy for my psyche... and certainly beats the bar runners that stop for a few after work and who knows what else.

At least with this hobby I am home half the time building... and at one specific location during good weather... the field.

I get the occasional "ooooh that's pretty" but never any negative questions. I'm fortunate that I have a detached 30x40 building dedicated to my planes, shop and home office so I'm sure that alleviates any problems with decor...

Once - and only once, I put an AC on the dining room table while I was repositioning the shop... a single drop of fuel dripped onto the table and melted the varnish - she has never let me forget it... [&o]

Eight years have passed and she still reminds me of it... thanks I'll keep the AC in the workshop. I can't take the stress. [:@]

Fortunately I have a whole basement for my addiction. The kids are out of the house and I have a lot of room. My wife would hang me by the #@ll's if I even attempted to leave one plane sitting in the family room let alone hanging from the ceilings. lol.

In the house???? You've got to be kidding. My wife barely tolerates my little "toys", and resents the little time I spend with them, though that isn't what she says. If I tried to display one in the house, she'd just laugh and say, "Get that thing out of here before something happens to it!". You're very lucky Richard, and the other guys that have wives with healthy attitudes about our hobby.

Actually, it's not quite as bad as it sounds. I do have one large bedroom in the daylight basement that is 100% hobby use only. So I can't really complain. At least I'm warm in my solitude.

Besides, if you saw my planes, you wouldn't want them in the house anyway.

My wife has tolerated me taking over an entire bedroom as a "hobby room"; an entire garage for my car and hobby stuff; and now a new shed built as a workshop. I don't have it too bad.

My "other half" is not as receptive to this hobby. Whenver i bring up a thought on storing a plane, the bird she gives me does not have feathers on it.

I can't believe, planes hanging all over the house! I converted my garage to a shop and stuck the wife's car in the drive way. Bird doo all over it!!!!!!!!!!! Finally put up a cover over it and got her off my back. She ignores everything in my shop, including me. To be fair though, she has never questioned how much I spend on my hobby, and I don't question her on what she spends. She says I have to have something to do and she knows I am not chasing women, although I am getting a little old for that. Still like to look.

I don't hang 'em, but I've got my wifes blessing to use the 24'X24' cement floor garage for my workshop/hangar.

Woodburner, stereo, complete woodworking shop, even has a few windows so I can look out at my two available runways.

Life is good.
