Recommendation for Club Raffle
Our club is going to try to run a raffle this winter as a fund raiser. We have roughly $250 to spend on a plane. We don't want to raffle a trainer. What plane would you be willing to spend $5-$25 on a raffle ticket to win? Please tell me why. There are a number of scratch and kit builders in the club, as well as ARF and RTF flyers.
Thanks,
Brad

bkdavy,
Before you assume that the money you have on hand is all you can spend on a raffle item, check around for other sources. See what you can get donated. Call the major manufacturers or distributors. Many of them will donate an item, or offer it at a lower cost, to help out in fund raising efforts such as this. Call the radio manufacturers as well as the makers of engines. One last source would be the LHS's. See if they are willing to help. Of course you will be trading with whoever donates any items. You are going to promote that company by advertising in all of your fund raising that this item was donated by XXXXXX company. So call around and see what you can come up with.

Thats the plan. I'm just trying to get a sense of what's going to give us the most interest from the local flying community.

RE: Recommendation for Club Raffle
This last year we did a raffle on a cub on floats, because we do about 5 float flys a year, otherwise the rest is on land, so we figure why not get some more people involved in it by raffling off a cub, if I remember right, evolution engine, H9 cub, can't remember the floats. We got the local hobby store to pay for the plane, so the rest was on us(engine, radio, assembling).
