this weekend a buddy and myself headed out to the field in my Honda Fit, when we brought out the planes to put in the car we thought we might not be able to take them all.

Hangar 9 j3 cub 40 x 2 (theres another fuselage running perpendicular to the other 3 along the back.)

2 master caddy field boxes
4 gallons of fuel
12 volt lawn equipment battery
Field charger
2 tx's
random tools
Food
2 6ft tall adults

all fit comforably. i guess thats why they call it a Fit. next week it'll be the same planes, but add a tribute 36 to the mix.

i have trouble fitting a Bossanova and flight box into a Peugeot 406 Saloon

BUT we can fit the whole fleet in the Mercedes Sprinter 312D

I'll bet that "Fit" will tow this trailer, my civic does with no problems.

i was actually looking at hitches for it today for when i get my 50cc bird. its rated to 950lbs so i'm sure a small open trailer will be pulled around fine.

Mine weighs around 450 lbs loaded ready for the field. Around 45lbs tongue weight. And water proof. About $650 to build it. The gas savings driving the civic over my truck makes half the civic's car payment. I just couldnt justify taking 2 planes to the field with an extened cab, F350, dually, diesel, 4x4 anymore.

that seems like the ideal set up for me, did you build it yourself? what are the dimensions on it? i know what you mean about the gas, this Fit was a HUGE downgrade for me. i traded in my 04 z06 for it because 90 a month in gas sure beats nearly $300 a month plus i couldnt get anything over 40 inch span in it. So the car itself is a downgrade but its been a definite upgrade on my quality of life.

Heres my build thread. It 4'wx10'lx3'h. I can carry up three medium sized (72" ws) planes or 1 or 2 giant scale. Best thing I ever did for my hobby.

wow that is amazing work, i wish i could do something like that but i've never been very good at wood work. i'm bookmarked the thread though in case i'm ever feeling brave.

I have a 89 CRX and have fit a Top Flight P-51, Goldberg Eagle, Flight Box, cooler, lawn chair and a Beagle in it for a trip to a funfly.
