Billville, you are a smart man. Alot of truth to what you wrote. I do agree.

As for you Mr. Basinite, I wonder if you would like to express you feelings to me in person. I REALLY would like to meet you. Would you like to meet me?

I'll tell you what, I'll be at the field this Thursday and Sunday. Why don't you come up and introduce yourself to me.

Hey Basinite

Why don't you come out and let all the other jet guys know how you really feel about jets? Man, you have a lot of nerve with such comments. There is a large turbine community at the basin and it keeps expanding. Like Billy said, introduce yourself to him, he is the Turbine Director for VF. Maybe he can help you resolve some issues.

Basinite gets too scared by the big bad jet sounds. Is he the same fellow who wanted to get rid of the CL circles to have an indoor mini electric field, because, after all, those old CL guys are dying off anyway?

Cory,

Did you get any more flights in? Did the gears hold up?

Which channels did you have remapped to failsafe at a user settings?

Since XPS comes with a failsafe that keeps all channels at current settings if the RX did failsafe nothing at all would have changed. I.E. the turbine would have stayed at full throttle, the gear would have stayed up. Not knowing all about the setup it sure seems like something other than TX failsafe.

I wonder that if the entire RX was ejected from the a/c and everything else burned, how well were the servo/battery leads connected to the RX. So far I have not seen a crash where the RX disconnected every lead. How well was the RX protected by foam?

My score. 350 flights with PCM/PPM - one a/c damaged due to interference. 250 flights with Spektrum - four a/c lost due to loss of TX/RX link. Over 350 flights with XPS - no lost a/c. So far I have flown XPS with everything from foamies, powered sailplanes, to 50cc aerobatics planes. I do find that the placement of the RX is important to get an excellent field check. Also, I have been careful to make sure there are no wires close to the RX which can vibrate. (Both of these items are important for all 2.4ghz systems.)

I consider the first post to be not well researched or documented. I can find cases of a/c crashing on any system in use today. Spektrum has released a fix for its 6 channel rxs. Now they are at revision v1.2. I have read about lost link between the RX and TX on non-XPS systems. Why only hit on one system? Lets ban all systems that have ever crashed an a/c. That post leaves me questioning its intent.

Cory,

Here's a couple of photos of the FliteSkin I was telling you about. Also, a couple of shots of the gear doors.

You know what people, All the club did was not allow XPS at the field for a jet event for lack of the better word "Safety Reasons".

If you guys want to continue this, then go start a new thread somewhere else...... But please don't type here unless you have something to contribute to the BASIN............Gene

Actually there were quite a few earlier posts in this thread specifically about xps and how it wasn't working at this field. That makes it a part of this thread. But par for the course...

If you guys want to continue this, then go start a new thread somewhere else.
Added:

It's ok to slam xps and post but....

I do fly xps and spektrum. I am fair about it though and slam whoever for what I see that is BS!!!!

Wow, besides the poor Engrish,,, you talk about "i thanks you guy going be sue by lot of xps guy." If someone does bring up a lawsuit about how XPS was not allowed at a field, then bring it,,, cus it would be just like someone sueing over a dog bite when the guy hopped over a fence that had several signs saying "Beware of Dog"...
What it boils down to is the fact that there is a Safety issue and the club decieded to not allow XPS at the Field for the Jet Event unless it can be determined that it can be used safely, (maybe it has to do with the changing in the anntenna design and these failures maybe have been caused by the original anntena systems, but who really knows for sure at this time).

This thread is going nowhere. What inquiring minds want to know is what TRANSMITTER was used with the XPS modules when the crashes happened. I have been following all the XPS threads and it appears to me that he Futaba-XPS combo has the most problems. If XPS is good in JR and Multiplex then it is not XPS's problem it is Futaba !!

Well, not really.
Futaba radios have been out for some time now.....

Perhaps there is a compatibility problem with XPS and Futaba, but I sincerely doubt it is directly the fault of Futaba.

Jim Drew has reported, in the Rc Groups thread, that he and Jason have connected, and have worked out an arrangement for Jim to
"bring our spectrum analyzers with us so we can determine the level of noise (on all frequencies, not just 2.4GHz) and record a few hours worth of data for analysis."

New technology often brings to light unknown issues with older technology. Could be that the sensitivity of the XPS system exposes a flaw that was not obvious in lower frequencies. Because XPS is module based the fault could well lie inside the transmitter.

I'm just suggesting that to find the root cause that the fishbone diagram should made and expanded to include transmitter brands and models. What works well with one brand and model may have an issue with another brand and model. To determine whether the cause is XPS or a particular transmitter, design, firmware or pot these things must be known.

Anyone reporting a crash should include this information, and any personal mods to the transmitter so that the community can draw the diagram.

Without this kind of research the community will forever be divided.

Yes this is true TLH101, Tonight we discussed with some of the board members the issues that we have been talking about here on the SB thread. It is nice to know that Jason and Mr. Drew have made contact and have agreed on a date for the testing of the XPS system here at the basin. As we are concerned to find out the truth of the XPS system here at the basin, we are confident that Mr. Drew will also want to make sure, if in fact there are any issues, that the XPS system is solid here at the basin. It is a win win situation for EVERYONE to get to the bottom of this. Just like the field in LAS Vegas, if there are problems I'm sure they will be reconized and dealt with, if there are no issues then we can all fly with confidence.

I would like to say at this time that since this arguement has started( some time ago) we have all heard the different sides to the issues at hand more than once. I am sure the re****s of the testing will be posted and we can all come to our own conclusions. It would be nice for the BASIN thread to get back to some sort of normalicy. So lets all hang tight and relax and go into this with a clean slate. After all this is about SAFTEY, and we may be one step closer to some closure on this.

Just my feelings,

Billy

P.S. Except for you MR. Basinite, I'm still looking to meet you.

Let's hope the rhetoric from the XPS proponents, about shutting down Apollo Field altogether, ends as well. That was the most arrogant and irresponsible diatribe of all. [:@]
