Quick question.

Anyone know why there are FA-18's landing at Burbank airport?

I know the Rose Parade is tomorrow, but they normally have the Stealth Bomber for that fly over.

There is a 5 nautical mile ban over the parade route tomorrow, perhaps they are flying topcover?

Question answered:

I guess there was no stealth bomber this time - - but I did see the three FA-18's do a fly by (on TV)

Hey, I don't think I see them down at the field too often!

You should bring some VF caps and Tees to sell.

I looked at the site and could only find the advanced ticket prices. For non-members, the advanced ticket prices were $13 for 1 day, $24 for 2 days and $33 for 3 days.

Make sure you bring your 2008 card. They seem to think that everyone has already sent their money and gotten their new card by the second week of the year. In order to get an on site discount, they could care less unless it says 2008. Last year, my 2007 AMA card was delayed for some reason, so they made me pay full pop at the door. Then I had to go to the AMA booth at the show, have them look up my membership status, fill out a form, and then......I got the difference back them. That wasted some valuable shopping time!

Is there still a Family AMA membership? Or am I imagining that those use to exist 15 years ago or so?

Hey guys, anybody have any ideas on the DX-7 and lockouts at the Basin?

Shane had a lockout with his DX7 and stuffed one in Saturday. Sunday, Banjo Bill barely got one home after a lockout in a dive with his DX7.

I realize that some of you guys would just as soon see ALL those rude squadron warbirds in the trash cans. . .

What did Jim Drew's testing reveal? I've been watching this thread, and haven't seen anything. Is there Nexrad radar problems from Van Nuys??? I know that Nexrad does effect 2.4. Bill

Bill, When Jim came out to the field to do some testing, there was no definative answer to any sort of "hot spot" or " noise". It was noted that around the lunch hour there was a higher level of 2.4 noise coming from the South (probably office buildings down by Ventura Blvd). i think also at one point Jim saw a small spike over towards the large tree on Woodley. Other than those two anomalies the field was rather quiet. I personally have been flying two jets on my DX 7 for about a year now. I also just added a third jet to the module on my 10x. Not a glitch. The only thing I can think of when someone at the field has lost a plane while running the S.S. is the reseting of the reciever which occurs when there is a voltage drop. It takes a full 2 seconds to reboot when this happens. It is important to make sure the batteries are fully charged or have a redundant system. I run a Powerbox in all my planes which is the ultimate in retudant power, but other companies such as Fromco sell devices that are light in weight and don't take up much space. Fromco sells the D-Cup. There are always two sides to the S.S. discussion, but I trust it completey if it is set up the right way.

Thanks, Billy.

I lost a plane on my DX6 when they first came out. It was just to the left of the big tree. I had plenty of batt, and it just stopped responding and went down.

I hear ya on the 2 seconds. Bill

Some one correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Spektrum has improved the reset time when there is a power glitch. They did it by making the receiver automatically check the last 2 channels it was receiving on as soon as it reboots. They demoed it at the AMA convention in the Spektrum seminar and it was definitely faster then 2 seconds. I think it is only a feature of the DSM2 receivers though.
