Dick it was a pleasure hanging out with you down there.
I always learned something from your photographs and the instructions you gave in the column about taking them.
The invititation to fly in Jacksonville is always open.

Just reviewed your fantastic coverage of Top Gun 2009. However, I don't believe your description of Pro Am Pro Class is accurate.
Full documentation is NOT a requirement, just a picture of the full scale airplane to get your 25 points "static score".
It is no more difficult than the Sport category other than competing against more experienced pilots.
Thanks again for the great pictures. I've been a big fan of RCU for many years.

Great solid coverage. My only suggestion would be to add a shotgun microphone (with a deadcat/wind muff) to your equipment list.
It will isolate the sound to what you're pointing at and minimize the 360Ëš distracting sound. I may help remove the "hands on button" noises also.
And the "I just broke my back shooting that overhead shot" grunting noises
Look forward to your coverage again next year.
Thanks,
Paul

I look forward to "Warbirds over the Rockies"; your Top Gun coverage is enough for me to get a plan to make it. Nothing to fly this year though, maybe next year. I'll look through the coverage so I can recognize andthank some of the staff here when I make it to the "...Rockies" event. Thanks again! I hope there will be "heads up" messages on that future event here. - Eric

Riddle, we aren't hard to find, we either have tee shirts with big RCUlogo's on the back, or in the case of Minn and Ken they have khaki vests with camera equipment hanging off and embroidered RCU logos.

How come a helicopter guy in our scale model interest? Am I missing something? You guys are all about gyros, gain rates, Idle up curves....everything but silk and dope finishes with real turnbuckle flying wires! Smooth strokes across the sky like a dancer..with a plane that took two or three years to build..is the norm with us scale nuts. I'm just missing something in your history as a helo guy to connect with us balsa dust sniffers! I know you can explain, and thanks for your Top Gun work. Really just looking for the missing link! Ha ha Just curious is all, no offense. I'll look for the RCU tee's BTW at the next event!

Maybe this will explain
I may be the heli mod and reviewer but I'm into a little bit of everything. That and I enjoy photographing and writing.
We (Ken,MinnFlyer, and myself) just got back fromXFC and my next trip for RCU coverage is back to Muncie in August for IRCHA with Ken (immersion thearapy for Ken to help him get over his fear of helicopters)

I love the Cub...who wouldn't! I like the sailplanes too having grown up watching Skip Miller fly his Aquila to an international championship (and hisfree flight models...he would have forgotten me has a teenage looky loo..they were cool). You obviously have talents usefull to the RCU cause, and thanks again. loved watching all the videos, and the stills. Arf acros..well..I guess if you fly also (obviously)like I do, it is neat. I am also a builder, though; and that is the cause of Top Gun in my opinion. Great stuff. I just hope we can keep scale going through the generations! My interest was started by buying magazines as a kid (go figure), how are the uninitiated going to stumble on this without a big fat airplane staring at them from the mag racks at the local grocery store? Now that's the question. Is RCU going to have a pub?
