You score individual posts, by clicking the "Rate Post" in the bottom right corner of any post (except your own).

Just noticed that the term "score" has appeared with the info under everyone's user name on the left side.

Then what is this comment?

Geez now I have score-envy.

Someone please de-score me back down to 100. I for one can't handle the pressure that certainly must come with 1000 + points. I mean really, the guy's already got a toothache.

Over 1000 points.. I'm impressed !!!!!! I don't know about voting for ya though. Can you look a man straight in the eye & tell him " no, that's not my hand in your pocket", or say, I give you my word that I won't do that!! Knowing that you will do whatever you want as soon as " the fools" elect you. If so, then you would definitly qualify as a politician !!

I see Live Wire's score at 1035 ???? This is my first post in a long while, so I should have a score of 100 if what you said is right , about starting out with 100.

Flew yesterday in between storms.

And then spent some time this afternoon demonstrating the lunacy of this system.

Gets interesting[:@] We have a jerk that built a house just off our flying site and is trying to shut us down. No planes over or near his land. If any thing crashes on his land it belongs to him. I am not making any POINTS with Him

He can absolutely claim any plane that lands on his property. "Salvage rights" if you will.

he does NOT, however, own the airspace above his property...so his "No airplanes over my land" demand is pointless.

What i MIGHT suggest is that if there are other neighbors around, he MIGHT just try to 'rally' them to his cause...so it may be worth placating him to some degree.

Not trying to change this thread but we have invited him over to give him a demo flight and have even as much as offered him a plane. All he wants to do is develope the land and peddle it, not planning on living there. 24years and a lot of hard work down the drain.
Thats life

Well Sir Wire,

Man, that does kinda bite, Live Wire...and it sounds like you guys have gone quite a ways in an attempt to extend the hand of friendship. As you say however...if he's not interested in living there, then he's not going to be real receptive to trying to get along with the neighbors, so to speak.

Obviously, I don't know the whole situation here...who owns what, size of the field relative to the surrounding land, flight paths, etc etc...but a couple of ideas come to mind. Again, some of these may be worthless, given the situation, but thought i'd toss 'em out anyway:

1) Any chance of offering to work WITH the development process in an effort to keep the field worked in there somehow? Perhaps changing a runway or something??

2) As he develops, any chance of finding out 'early" who the prospective tenants might be, and trying to get on their "good side"? Maybe it's a company that might like to have an airfield for their employees to use on breaks, or perhaps a neighborhood that you could offer a park and after shcool program to, or anything like that...just some chance to be seen as a benefit, not a drawback.

3) Any chance of being the buyer for some of the newly developed land?

4) Have you approached the AMA for some assistance? Our own local club found out first hand that, aside from the "dream scenario" stories of new land or whatever, the AMA is quite helpful at playing "liaison" for clubs. They cna be pretty persuasive to tentative land/building owners in explaining the benefit, the safety, the coverage, etc etc.

============

Hope some of that helps!
