Anybody make their own sandbags?
I'm looking at making some small sandbags to use as weights to hold our planes on the tables at our field. I've got some good quality sand, sandbox sand. I thought maybe a tube sock would work, but I'm guessing the sand would leak through the fibers. What do you think would be a cheap, weather proof, durable, flexible material to use? It also has to sew fairly easily, because I can't sew to save my life. In fact, if it was already presewed into a tube, like a sock, that would be the best. That way, I would just have to seal the ends.
Thanks,
Randy

I tried sand; you are right, it leaks out everywhere. I went to lead shot from a sporting goods store. I can't sew either so I used a 'hot glue" gun to make bags about 4 inches square and some bigger ones anout 6x6 inches. They work pretty good for models. Sewing bags would be better though and I am thinking of trying them in a "Zip-loc" bag.

You can buy lead shot extremely cheap from a sporting goods store that carries reloading supplies for shotguns.
Plus you can get it in 1lb, 5lb, and 10lb bags which are already sewn you don't even have to open em up to make a new bag.
Don't buy steel shot tho it's 10x more expensive and doesn't weigh as much. Plus steel usually comes in canisters not bags.

Use zip-lock bags inside whatever you put them in as mentioned above. Lead shot or Sand. Double bag and CA the ZIP on the each bag.. it will not come apart.... Med or thick works better for me....
