This is inspired by Ptarmigons thread and I thought if we only include your last crash we won't skew the results and may keep it a little more scientific.

My last crash was caused by stripped servos, but as I said in the other post, dumb thumbs is the major cause in most.

As I had been flying this plane for awhile it did the same thing on 3 seperate flights, with the last being fatal. Still cann't find the cause and my fingers are full of splinters.

Why didn't someone tell me that when you get around the back side of a torque roll...the rudder is backwards!

Midair during a race, right between pylon #2 and #3. Both planes destroyed but minimal engine and radio damage--yea!

I had added a smoke system to an Extra 300, and was making an early landing with a full tank of smoke oil (a little nose heavy) had Flapperons down, and while turning to final, tip stalled into a group of trees.

Done, although often times it's more of a left-stick failure than a structural failure.

The synthesized module in my 9ZAP went 'belly up' while the plane was in the air. No control at all. The plane rolled inverted and went in full bore.

Receiver of a F7UP crapped out. It was in a previous crash and was verified by a Futaba shop to be ok. But a small crack in the PC board caused an open to occur after a couple of more flights.

Oh well that ends well.

I think you need a category for "deadstick", especially when they happen at a bad time (like during climbout).

My last crash I classified under other. I was flying my tiger 2 off the far end of the runway was preparing for an inverted pass. I rolled inverted at about 50' of alttitude I realized very quickly that I had no elevator. Had a brain freeze didn't react and I watcxhed the plane get destroyed almost asa if in slow motion. Not a 100% sure what caused the crash but it was naroed down to 2 possibilitys 1 servo tray came lose (unlikely cause I didn't notice any yaw at full elevator which would have moved the rudder servo) or more likely wing came off in flight. Not sure because after the crash both items where detached from the plane. This one will forever remain a mystery.

OK MikeL,
Thanks, but lets add one more, deadstick , and change
power stall to just tip stall.

Maybe we can cover more bases so people don't need to answer "other" so often and then we'll get a better picture.

Then how come the "Midair" catagory is zero?

Rx battery failure, my fault as the battery was past its prime and should have been replaced.

Default well

Mine hit the ground really hard at WOT-

Whatever it was, was not my fault! It wasn't even my plane so it must have been the owners fault-

I did the mother of all stupid ones.....I was practising climb and glides, and after several quick starts, I forgot to raise the antenna.....Full bore (on a clean is airframe), rose about ten feet, then hit the ground. The crash site was cool, xause there was a big spread of bits. The plane flipped a couple of times and ended up into a bush, and the wing went on about 30 feet over a bank. Even bent the wheel axel and broke the needle valve off my Irvine 53. This is all in soft Irish bog by the way...oh well.......

I did the sweetest tail slide in my cub... just one problem. I didn't have the altitude to recover from it. :stupid:
Put me down for a "Dumb thumb" award.

Hmmm....yesterday the wind was too too much. Engine stopped during a loop. The plane was going away from me so I tried to turn it towards me and wind was bringing the plane very fast towards me. Confused, I tried to turn the plane against the wind and succeded in a nice final turn against the wind to land but unfortunately the tip of my wing hit a boundary wall. Plane is fine but wing is a piece of crap.

Some Idiot ran the servo extensions inside the fuselage and left them lying on the bottom of the fuselage, and then ran the reciver antenna along the bottom( out side) of the fuselage which spaced them about an 1/8" away from each other.DOUH I do know better, just did not see it in time. Lucky me the plane was on approach low and slow.

Nobody to blame but me-- too low snaps-- not enough altitude to recover. Very little damage-- can be fixed in a half hour. (You would think I would learn) The more comfortable you get with a plane-- the shorter the life span.

my last crash was from unknown origin, I just launched my SIG wonder and it apear I had no control at all. The plane crashed and suffered moderate damages. Everithing was working normaly after the crash. I checked the battery pack wich was ok, for safety I changed the switch. The kind of crash I hate.
needless to say that both my RX and TX was on at the moment of the crash
