Default Best RC airplane ever owned.

Hi guys,
I just thought it would be interesting to know some of the best / favorite airplane models that you have or have owned. Gas, glow, electric, micro to giant. Any type shape or size, I would like to hear some interesting opinions. Some of My favorites would be the: QQ Yak 69', E-flite SU-26m sukhoi, Hangar 9 Pulse Xt 40 and GWS SlowStick.

I have been flying a Meister Corsair (built by another modeler) since about year 2000. This plane has been durable and easy to fly. As I learned to do aerobatics (with other planes like Extras,) I also learned that the Corsair would handle them too!

This one has a G62, Robart Retracts and an Airtronics system - no flaps. Lands easy, looks good taxiing or taking off, and I really enjoy letting it rumble down the middle of the runway at about 2' off the ground. Over 700 flights on it now, still puts a smirk on my face when I watch it lift off.

Midwest Strikemaster
Marks Models Bushwacker
Airtronics Aquila
Airtronics Sagitta 600 and 900
Terryplanes Titan 120 (glider)
Goldberg Falcon 56 and Senior
Balsa USA Smoothie

In almost 40 years of RC flying... those are the planes that had the biggest impression on me, Flying wise...all great machines. Man, I must have had 6 Strikemasters during that time and still have 2 NIB and also have a "Super" Strikemaster.

Although I have flown many great designs, the two which stand out most for outstanding flying are/were:

PICA .60 Size Rapier (out of production since what? 1985?) Very rugged easy to build easy to fly sport plane. If you find one, get one.

EU-1A Pattern Plane (out of production since early 80's) Huge for its day, the EU-1A remains the best rolling airframe I have ever flown.

Of all the good planes I've had over the years. One stands out and I'm still flying it. It's the H-9 Extra 260 35% with a 3-w 100 in it. If it ever goes in I'll get another one. Dennis

By far the best two planes I have ever owned are my Hanger 9 P-6E with a Zenoah 26cc gas engin and my 1/4 scale Balsa USA Fokker D-VII with a Zenoah 38cc engin. Have not flowen my ESM Stuka or my Nitro Planes ME-109 yet but I'm looking forward to it. My other planes are great flyers but I seem to "feel" the P-6E and D-VII more when I fly them.

Qui Que 102"Yak 54 / DLE111. I'm the second owner of the airframe and it's showing it's age but it flies so well I hate to fly any of my other planes now. Kinda ugly until the wheels leave the ground.

Rascal110. I've got 8 years on it, countless flights, recovered 3 times. May have to reverse engineer it if Sig doesnt make anymore. I love the laid back slow aerobatics and just floating up there.

Any plane that has the words Ugly and Stick in it. Some of the best flying planes ever designed. I really wish they would all come back. Good Luck, Dave

Favorite all time was my Starduster 2 bipe with a Sachs 3.2 for power, with smoke. looked great, flew great sold it about 20 years ago but do have video and pix. Scratch built from plans. Another great plane in it's day was the Laser which I flew and demolished at a Laser Invitational while about 3000 people watched, HA.

My Mecca Models Fiesta 60, I must over 200 flights on it, so many that I had to recover it a couple of years ago. It's the best flying plane I have.

I flew an Ultra Sport 60 for like 10 years. The thing was so wore out I had to retire it. 2nd favorite is the OMP 67" Fusion I am wearing out right now.

Ahh the Bushwacker, I remember it well. A challenging kit build for me but I learned to fly 4 channel with ailerons with it in about 1982.

I've been flying since 1980. Always thought that the sweet stick, ugly stick, tiger stick, and so many more names that I cant remember was one of the best all around plane till the H9 ultra stick. Ive had the 120 lite for 5 years and still going strong. Even been in a fire, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG1SJEVS9zM) you tube link attached. I have all 2 byron war birds 6 gas areobatic planes, jets, you name it i've probly frown it. But still the ultra lite 120 is still my fave. I bring it out almost every sunday windy or not. Jusy my 2 cents.

Mine is both of the World Models mustangs I have - the 60 size and the GS fly very well.
They are well built and never snap or do anything but fly great. I have flown them full power for years and no problems - especially the 60 size.

The golberg shoestring bar none! I flew it for years when I was in high school and college. It finally blew up. I looked for years for another and when Ebay came along, found a bunch over time. I have 12 kits and 2 that were started that are kind of a mess. Might have to take them apart and see if I can make one work.

It has to be the Berkeley Bootstraps that I built in 1952. It was my first R/C model after flying control line for many years. The receiver had a single tube in it and one of my friends built it for me for $10. It had an escapement that went around in one direction only and then stopped at the next point. It was powered by a rubber band. Unless you remembered what control came up last you never knew which was coming up next. There was no motor control. The high voltage battery pack for the tube, the filament battery for the tube and the battery for the escapement weighed well over a pound. We used a transmitter that sat on the ground. It probably weighed a few pounds. I don’t remember getting many, if any, good flights with it but something good must have happened since I am still in R/C today. I just built a replica of it to relive my youth. I got smarter during the past 50+ years and put in a modern radio. You kids don’t know what you missed. Dan.
