RE: Cold
Hmmm no it isn't cold,
IMHO unless you can go skiing the cold has nothing going for it. Here in my part of Australia, (mid way between Sydney and Brisbane) it is the height of summer with temps in the high 30sCelcius and RH >90%. Flying yesterday it was so hot that we had to retire to the shade between short flights and dring plenty of water to keep hydrated. I left around noon and spent the afternnon floating in the pool. It's a tough life but someone has to do it and it may as well be me. I feel I "have paid my dues" during a career of twenty three years combating bush fires. Happily retired and someone else can chase the smokes on "blow up days".
Cheers,
Colin

RE: Cold
Your weather sounds like ours here in South Georgia.
On an aside. Our granddaughter spent a study semester last winter from Georgia Tech in New Zealand and Australia. She hates the cold as it can get in the winter in Atlanta. She loved it and the people she met. We were beginning to worry if she would come back.

Yes here the flying and building is generally governed by the heat. My shed turns to an oven in summer and I can only build in the early AM.

Yes it can get cold in Atlanta. Right now it is 19 deg F outside. But hey, that is 5 deg warmer than yesterday at this time. I have lived all over the country but for the last 36 years in Atlanta which is my favorite place. One reason is that we have four real seasons but winter and summer last only 2 months each. The rest of the year is spring or fall!

I've flown at the old GMAfield but this one appears to be a new one. I'll have to check it out next time we visit the kids in Atlanta. It is only 28 miles from my daughters place in Suwanee.

We lost our first field around 2003/2004 and moved to the current field at that time. It is in a flood plain. The county bought the property this past year for a park and looks like we will be able to stay. It is the nicest field I have ever flown at. While it is a 46 mile drive for me, I still get up there 2-3 times a week during the flying season. We would be glad to have you visit next time you are up this way.

Different club. This one I was talking about was the Chattahoochee Riverside Flyers - Haggett Memorial Field near Cumming GA.

I was stationed at NAS Albany in 1973 in a heavy recon squadron RVAH-11. It was deployed on the JFK to the Mediterranian and I was left behind for release from the Navy. I went to the Marine supply depot there a number of times.
