Finding somewhere to fly.......
 

Hi, basically my local fields have started to over grow and find it near impossible to fly here due to the fact the grass is much too long for safe landing. I have seen a few fields that have nicely cut, smooth land which would be perfect to land and take-off from, the trouble is it is at a school near me with 2 playing fields that are very large and perfect for the job. I have contacted the school but I have had no reply but all I wanted to do is to fly there for 30 minutes or so every weekend and I know it is a school but it doesnt say anything about private property etc. And the gates are always open so it is like an open invitation, seeing as I wouldnt be doing any damage what so ever, mature enough and respect the property, could I just go there and fly? I also wnated to know what the laws are for RC flying in fields away from public paths and roads but most of the fields near me are privately owned by farmers but I see no problem with flying a harmless little plane in the field....

Always ask permission on private land. You could ruin it for everybody, no matter what you think. I would expect that to be the case any where in the world. As for schools, its best to ask. Some here wont allow it, especially during the school season. Your best bet would be parks. Even then, you have to watchout. A year back there was an incedent with someone flying over peoples heads in one of our parks. The county parks department banned all planes.

The BMFA http://www.bmfa.org/ANO/index.html has a document called "Model Flying and the Law" which might have useful info.

If the field belongs to a school, go to the administration office and talk to them. If it belongs to a government entity, go there. You may never get a reply to an email.
