Counterfeit Spektums ??
 

Just saw this on the spektrum web site.

Attention: Horizon Hobby has confirmed that all Spektrum Products being sold by KoKo Technology are counterfeit. We consider it a danger to use these products, waive all liability and will not support any warranty or service in regards to them.

I suppose it was only a matter of time.

Looks like Horizon took it to the system and got results. I have seen several clone and so called DSM2 compatible receivers from several Chinese vendors but have always been skeptical since I have seen several of the most popular knockoffs fail with catastrophic results. Score one for Horizon..

Futaba has a big problem with counterfeit heli gyros also. I would venture to say that most of the NEW gyros listed on ebay are fakes.

I don't use the counterfeit Spektrum receivers, I know several that do... seem to work ok with DSM2 but problems with DSMX

Do not confuse counterfeit with the so called knockoffs. By definition, a counterfeit is made to as closely resemble the original as possible and to be passed off as the original while what some call knockoffs are designs that work like the original but does not usually look like them nor are they advertised as the original. In many cases the knockoffs are as good or better than the originals and often a much better value for the dollar. There are many of the DSMxx designs which are quite acceptable in so far as performance goes and in some cases superior.

My thoughts exactly. Spektrum uses off the shelf components so it is wide open to be copied.
