sealant for exhaust manifold threads

What is best for sealing exhaust manifold threads to prevent leakage and turning manifold and muffler black

I got some high temp silicone sealant from the local auto parts store. Haven't actually used it yet though.

I have used red RTV for sealant and a coat of Dawn Power Dissolver on the header/manifold and muffler of a four stroke before every flight or - at least - flying session. When calling it a day and after wiping clean, the exhaust system continues to look new.

Teflon tape works great on glow engines.

Also, Ace Hardware sells pipe thread compound it a tube, a high temp type that has teflon in it. Works really great on muffler threads.
