:cool: Ok east coast people , here's your chance to let all in the RC Universe know how much snow you got from this latest storm . It's said the DC area will get the most , a couple of feet , but don't be shy , even if ya got a wee six incher you can post it up for a chuckle or two ....

;) PS , I haven't posted my snow total yet cause it just started here a couple of hours ago , I'll put my number in when it stops , maybe tomorrow ...

Please send us some, we only have a couple of inches on the ground for the whole season! You'd think Alaska would have lots!

I don't get what the big deal is.. doesn't it snow every year there, just like it does here,, the media hype cracks me up

Also cracks me up,, Media hype makes people go crazy and buy up all the bottled water,, See that White stuff outside? That's very slow moving water,, it moves faster once you bring it inside,

Living near Lake Michigan, I am no stranger to snow. Yesterday, while those of you living on the East Coast were being inundated, we had an unusual, sunny, day.

I shoved a spot for my grill, and cooked up a few burgers.

I'm not trying to rub it in, guys, but this was an unusually nice day, and I had to take advantage of it.

I help my buddy with his snow plow business, I plow when he has to work his day job,, we've only plowed 3 times this whole season, and that's just been barely 2" each time, our time is coming I guess.

We have 53" for the season. It's been coming in 5-6" doses.

I'll take our problems, compared to those out East.

:cool: Tom that's great ! Getting the grill out is almost required on such a nice day . So , here 30ish miles south of Boston , I got a wee few inches , 4 at best , and almost felt like a wimp for running a snowblower for that little snow . In my younger days I wouldn't think of starting a snowblower for much under a foot , but these days the shoveling limit is about an inch or two . It's the people in the DC area that are said to have gotten 2 feet plus , and i hope some of them have some pictures to share . I've got some pretty dramatic ones from last year's snow , but so far this year we haven't had maybe a foot total ...

This is the backyard shed where all the flammable stuff lives . 25 gallons of glow fuel , $3000 worth of Lipos , and enough model rocket motors to put a human in orbit . Not to mention all the paints , oils , gas cans , and anything else I don't want in my house . Last winter , in 3 weeks time , we got hit snow after snow and this is not trick photography , there really was that much snow ! Some of the drifts were 5 feet or better ....

A snow shovel doesn't fit my hands. That's what machinery is for. LOL

With our almost daily snowfall, I don't mess with anything les than 2', anyway.

Barely any snow here, but got woken up by a 7.1 quake this morning! That'll get your attention, for sure!

Tom, I'd say I'm jealous of your grill BUT, we're doing burgers tonight on the grill, so all's good. Took all of 15 minutes to get the blower to it though and get it clear.

RDJeff, THAT'S why we didn't move back to Anchorage when I retired from the USAF. Don't miss those little shakers even a tiny bit. However, in the 27 years we've lived here there have been 2 shakers, both did minor damage to the house (less than $300 total), so we didn't escape them entirely.

:cool: Sorry you missed out on all the snow Dan , I actually got lucky and missed a bunch of it myself . I just saw on the news where West Virginia got 42 inches in some spots , so they hit the snow jackpot for this storm .


:cool: Yikes Jeff !!! Isn't anything into the 7s considered a "major" quake ? To me buddy , they're ALL major if I was in one . That is one thing the east coast has going for it , when we do get quakes they seldom if ever go much over a 4 or 5 . I know no area is immune and the east had it's share of seismic activity in the past (and could again at any time) but at least it not a frequent thing here .

About 4-5 here but it drifted a lot with the high winds. Just enough for floats...got out for a bit late today!
Around here it has been a ritual for decades for folks to get bread ,milk,and eggs when any threat of snow is forecast. Comes from the early-mid 1900's when you couldn't get to a store for a long time after a snow. Now I suppose folks just like french toast !

Dave W., I'm not too far north of you in Winchester, Va. We ended up with 38" here, about 4 miles north of Winchester off 522. Here's a couple pics from about noon Saturday. It snowed until about 10 pm that evening. The two lumps are our cars, the dark line about 1/2 way up the left lump is the tilted up rear wiper on the wife's 2002 Subaru Forester! Also included a pic of my little mule, the best $100 (yes, $100!) I ever spent. Hey moparbarn!! Yeah, sometimes those "just gotta have it" purchases are the real gems in the garage. I went though the '93 snow and then the '96 snow. That one was the decision maker - HAD to get a blower if I wasn't gonna drop from a coronary in the near future (450' driveways aren't easy with just a snow shovel). Got lucky with it - that particular model was on close-out at the original H'burg Wallyworld and mine was the last one in stock anyway - - paid $350 for a $700 blower, and she's never once failed me. Gonna need some TLC in the spring (muffler's going, as is the primer button) but she still gets the job done with the best of them, and has NEVER failed to start on the very first pull.

Still, it's days like this that make me remember Honolulu rather fondly.

You sure you didn't get that thower on Craig's List,,, they all say the same thing ;)

In St Louis we got approximately 2-1/2 inches of snow and 6 inches of salt on the roads!!!

Dave, a snow blower wouldn't be the best for me. I live onn100 acres, driveway is almost 1/2 mile long. Snow shovels are for the front steps - LOL!

Feds gave us wusses half a day Friday and Monday off. Bought a snow blower a couple weeks ago from Sears because the county won't clear snow from our little flag lot street. Glad I did; it was a back saver and would probably have had to call out for a plow job. Went down the main street along with neighbor and his (near twin) blower Sunday to help some neighbors clear their driveways.

Took some time out this morning to build an air force. Made some indoor trim flights. Continue to remain unregistered with the FAA and because of the SFRA restriction, used special purpose camouflage construction material for my aircraft as can be (hardly) seen. Last pic captures a defiant, flight of freedom...

:cool: Wow ! Great pictures and that Video is totally awesome ! Seeing that footage of going vertical looked great from the rearward view , seeing the ground get smaller so quickly . Just curious , have you flown it off of water yet ? It looks like it would be great for a little lake I know of in town ;)

We flew yesterday at 70 degrees and clear skies !!!
