Clearing out some old stuff
I have been organizing some of my collection of old rc stuff and been thinking of getting rid of a few things but I have no idea on what any of it is worth. I have a complete Yokomo YZ10, a few complete Kyosho Optimo's and a few new in package Novak receivers from late 80's earlier 90's vintage. I found a whole box of new in package old Team Associated parts mostly for original RC10 from the 80's/ early 90's. Ended a bit of a hoarder but I don't really need any of it.

Hello!
I have been doing a bit of - making room - also. I have a lot more! it's all at the dump now, sad it was all functional. |
You guys are killin me!! I too have probably a half-dozen obsolete transmitters that still work just fine... but there's really just no use for them. Can't give them away, as they probably do need batteries.. and it's cost prohibitive to upgrade any of them. I have 4-5 Futaba FG tranny's, and several of the Conquest style.. those I might be able to let go of.. but I have my beautiful Futaba 8UAP that was a fantastic radio I replaced when the 9CAP came out.. What to do with it??... and my 9CAP on 72mhz will soon be retired when I upgrade fully to my Spektrum DX9... although I still use the 9C for 72mhz for time being... but yeah.. It's tough... you guys are tougher then me.. I can't yet part with some of these things.. oh.. its tough. I dread the day... haha.
|
When I tossed my FM transmitters, I stripped them of the knobs and switches. I'll use them as scale details on an instrument panel, on some future build.

I have a tinkerers streak in me and I accumulate what I think I can use in the future, but the fututre never arrives. I have components from any number of things, my most recent is from old Calcomp and HP plotters from which I intend to make a CNC router in with the parts from a microwve oven transformer to make a spot welder, and I could go on. There is two boxes of Ryobi engines to be converted. Where will it end? and yes I have a futaba 9c that cost me $400 smackers it is practically new I intend to upgrade it to 2.4 but when? I just got a new 16 channel Horus trans. and two receivers. when I look at my shop storage shed and garage I cannot justify all the "stuff" and the idea of the burden it will place on my family when I depart is my motivation to downsize. ...................I hate it, but............. |
I have a box of crap from the "Old Days". I am going to go through it and toss te TX's/Rx's, ect. BUT, I have a lot of servos and other goodies I can recycle.
|
If you know anyone building small robots, they would love the servos! I'm using some from a World Engines trans/recvr outfit I built late 60's. Good enough for experimentation.
|
The problem in many cases is not many people build things anymore, it's a purchase, use, discard society even some schools looked confused when offered what I consider perfect teaching tools. I tire trying to help others, most look at me like they are insulted.
|
Glad to know it's not just me hoarding this stuff. In fact I've become a bit of a depository for the stuff other are about to trash as I just can't stand to see usable equipment trashed. But I don't think that can go much longer, so I too will be taking a long hard look at the piles this winter to see what I might actually use someday, and what I just wish I will use someday.
|
DGrant, look at a 10CAP before you buy. It will program like an old friend.

Aaah, that looks like my old Futaba 6x Super in the trash! I can`t bear to throw it away. But that and my old Skysport 4 are the only old transmitters I have. I recycled the 6x servos into the Tiger 60 I recently completed. I read that the 72Mz computer radios can be upgraded. I`d be more than happy to give it away to someone that could use it.

The transmitter, receiver and charger are in the original box and shipping would run about $15.00 USPS Ground.

I sold two old two-strokes for two bottles of Beaujolais Villages. Actually I got three bottles because the payment was late! I think I got a good deal.

Threads almost a year old, doubt there's anything left.

Hey, Darkbird
Here's one for your sig line: Those who design things to be completely foolproof frequently fail to account for the ingenuity of a complete fool. |
people have flown their planes on non 2.4 radios for so many years with little problems, I can't see just tossing these AM and FM radios. if they work perfectly fine yet,.. there's no reason not to use them. the likely-hood and frequency of interference, just isn't great enough to deem them "unusable" .
|
I have several radios on 72 meg. and they work flawlessly, no way I'll let them go, but I do have to get rid of the excess units, I have a lot of stuff to get rid of.
