SOMEBODY'S GOT SOME "SPLANIN" TO DO

Yep-- finally got my radio back and got to the field late Thursday afternoon for my first flight since mid-Dec. As I went to discard my empty glow fuel jug in the trash barrel I found the pieces of one of the many U-Can-Do's from our club. Got the pieces to prove it--now just got to get the story.

Does this type of stuff get attention at your field, and are you the first one to start the "ribbing?"

At our field, the trash can gets used most every day. We should just put one at each end of the runway!

If you launched a congressional investigation for every U-Can-Do that crashed, you would have little time to gossip about other crap.

It depends on who is is, and which airplane they crashed. If it's a heartbreaker, I won't pour salt in the wounds, On the other hand, if I know the person can take it, I'll be the first one to dish it out !!! (God knows, I've taken MY share of good natured ribbing!)

Unfortunately, we're on Wildlife Property and aren't allowed to leave a trash can, so eveidence of crashes gets hauled away. [:o] But if I'm witness to a crash, it does depend on who and what crashed. :D

if it was a UCD it was probably in one peice when it was forced in there by a frustrated owner ;)
our field has no trash can, we take our planes home with us, the crashed ones too :D

My field also has no trash can. It is have garbage bag will travel!!! Kinda nice though. I don't have to explain how I crashed it. There is no evidence. Good Luck, Dave

Trash cans are great! How else us old retired folks are gonna get replacement parts?

I know RC fliers who stuff a trash bag in toward the rear of the fuselage so they will have it handy when the crash happens.

I've seen many planes removed from the trash to fly again. We have seven 55 gallon trash barrels and I have seen planes in all of them, at the same time. What our field needs is a broom to get the bad ones off the run way.

£20 takes the sting out, unless it's a flyaway :D
as a serious idea, i kinda like the bag in the back

I lived and flew in Japan for four years. In the club I belonged to there (Chiba Flying Club) they poured fuel on the wreckage and burned the evidence. No fuss, no muss!!!!

I think a nice little funeral service would be in order. Every flying field needs a little cemetery for the planes that have landed "at that great runway in the sky".

Trash can? We have so many vultures at the field, the wreck doesn't have a chance to make it to the trash can. One guy has an entire 1500 sq ft house full of pieces. Thats all he does, collect junked planes, and he will not let go of anything. He's the Fred Sanford of RC.

If I crash, I take my plane home anyway. Right after a crash is a really bad time to be making decisions. After a week or so passes, it's good to look it over and see if it can be fixed. If not, then at least salvage any decent hardware out of it. I would never throw a plane away at the field. Just not a good move. Nothing worse than someone else showing up with your plane a few weeks later and having fun with it. :)

We have it posted at our field that you need to take all crashed parts home and show them to your wife! :D

You wait a week or two. Gosh that's mighty fast, I usually wait two or three MONTHS. :)

Burn'em up! just make sure to remove the servos and RX.. ;)

One club member crashed his 'Cutting Edge' biplane, the damage was fixable... maybe... but he carried it to the pitts.... and starting stumping it.... time to light the fire...
