Pull-Pull... How twangy?

I've just installed my first yank-yank rudder on a Kyosho Tiger Moth.
One thing not covered by the instructions (or anywhere here for that matter) is how tight (or twangy) should the wires be?

If you can play "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" on the wires, they're a little too tight.

I have a 1/5 waco and all the controls are pull, pull. I ran the cables to control line bell cranks then then from bell crank to servo's. The wires should be adjusted where there is no slack in control surfaces, to tight will damage servo's. On the bell crank's there is no pressure on servo's and they opperate normal, do not use plastic horn they will distort from constant pressure on them.

For reference, piccies below of the installation...

LOL I had them like that at first but have now slackened the wires off. No buzzing from the servo, so I assume it's now ok...

I've read about this, but on a small bipe there's no room (see below)...

Thanks, I read this article b4 I started to check out the ackerman. I had intended to use Sullivan metal horns but they have too much of an angle to get the pivot point behind the hinge line. I used Dubro #105 horns instead, these are also a left/right pair.

When your servo snaps off, it's too tight.

I crank mine down till there's no slop.

Tight, don't pull the servo horn off trying to get the high note. Slop free, no music, and you'r good to fly.

Found it! :) http://www.pcdon.com/foggy.mid

You're right, that would've been a bit tight! :D

I use pull-pull on all my bigger planes. I also do not tie directly to the servo; I install a pulley near the servo and drive the pulley with a short stiff arm from the servo using ball joints. I always leave the line as loose as possible without jumping off the pulley. One of mine has been in service over 12 years and a couple more greatter than 5 years with never any problems.

That'd be cool, roll your plane out and start playin' that... :D
