electrics help

No idea where this post should be, but help would be greatly appreciated.

ok i've had a plane for almost 2 years now and it hasent seen one flight. the problem originally was being able to afford what was needed but now im not a student i have been able to get what was needed. anyways my problem now is the electrics. the elevator uses two servos connected to a y lead, connected to an extension lead(about 1 meter in length) to the reciever. when the elevator is moved to the end of its travel the servos start to twitch. i have checked both servos individually to make sure they work alright, i have also checked the servos when connected to the y lead. again they work fine. when the full system is put together ie. servos ylead extension lead, this is when the servos start to twitch. Fair enough, it must be the extension lead that is causing the problem. i test this with just one servo attached and it works fine, same thing when i check the other servo. What could the problem be?
Could the signal be getting distorted over the length of the wires?

Thanks

RE: electrics help

More likely that the length of the leads, combined with the extra connectors, is causing a drop in voltage. You could try a 5 cell battery pack to increase voltage (but this will also decrease the packs capacity due to increased current draw).

You could also solder the the extension to the "Y" connector and the ends of the "Y" to the servos leads, or try using heavier guage wire.

Airwild makes extensions and "y" connections with #22 wire twisted. www.airwildhobbies.com

thanks for the replies. i am getting a new y lead tomorrow and forgetting the servo extension lead. measured out the full length of all the leads. it falls just short of 2 meters. but maybe i might get this plane in the air at the weekend.
