How about some lead for your pencil? I think I could even find you plans for this model!

have a hunt for my old weird planes thread, or take alook at my web site for the best.

How about a plane that looked noremal in a way, but in realitly it flew backwards, sure the wing and a few other things would be reversed, but would that ever be a wierd plane.

Like This?

Dago Red: here is a normal looking one that flies backwards!

lol--so true you are, but i meant not a canard, lol.

i suppose it could be a canard plane and the engine could be at the back and have a pusher prop, i suppose the only things that would look odd would be back to front wings and back to front control surfaces

Bingo---you just put it perfect, that would look very odd flying, lol. If i ever get a simple trainor kit again, thatll be what happens to it.

Strange Planes

A couple of years ago I recovered a wreak out of the trash can, not sure what it was but it had a flatbottom shoulderwing and was just another sport airplane.

On the rebuild I added a aileron servo to enable elevons. Moved the CG forward to around 15% with a corresponding move forward of the main tricycle landing gear. Also added 20 degrees up reflex in the ailerons. Now the whole idea of this thing was to hide the fact that it had just became a flying wing so the bottom mounted horizontal stabilizer was removed, elevator was made rigid and the whole thing was remounted with a release mechanism activated by a servo. This ship probably because of the less than ideal airfoil for a flying wing Was very pitchy at medium to low speeds but very stable at high power and would do the most amazing inside and outside snaps, tumbles Which worked out well for our little gags.

The senario went something like this. I would taxi out and take off in a normal manner but at around ten feet the release would be hit and the stabilizer fly off with a loud report. Now pitching up into the vertical I would scream my head off help, help and my partner would run over and pretend to help me with the trims all the while the airplane would be going through its repertory of tumbles to finally recover and make a very bouncy landing.

Needless to say we had a lot of fun and the silly little routine was quite a success at several airshows.

The bird's legs are the main landing gear and also doubled as yaw stability...more here:

Hey dude! I'd vote to go with the flying fish!!! Imagine all the "gone fishing" stories you could tell on that one !!! :D :D :D
+++ have the fish to back it up !!!
"Hey Man! I went fishing this one time and saw this HUGE flying fish........................"

( I hope nobody would mind if i store a copy of that picture! It's giving me an idea............. :D )

how big is that thing? i thought in previous pics there was a wind gauge in the mouth, but what i thought was numbers are just more rivets

Meters

1 Attachment(s)
I would estimate something like its profile would fit in a square with 6 meter sides. Probably should put the design in the Aerodynamic discussion section of RCUniverse as without a horizontal tail, it may have stability and control problems. On the other hand, a real artist isn't bounded by physical nature concerns as they view the world in the abstract, I think! So, why sweat the physics? :D :D

there might be a slight wing problem, chord and length, and also maybe too much body infront of the fin, but it might work...
6m box.. dont the neighbours hate you? must be sme forces on that when the wind picks up.
do you just have such a huge garden that it needs to be that big to be seen from the back door?;) :p lol

Phillybaby: No trouble with the neighbors as this "fish" is located 45 miles from my home on city government land/wharf! Sorry about the miles thing but when are you UKers going to change over to the English system of measurements? Always wanted a red Radio Flyer!

ahhh its one of them cart things...
Miles IS the UK measurement  ....
And watching this US police car chase progam with all its stupid added effects ( are Americans that gullable? ) it seams your on miles too... Its those blimmin Euros that love there confusing metric systems lol everything in 10's thats far to weird for me;), give me fractions and yards and pints and GOD SAVE THE POUND!

Phillybaby: thought that Merry Old England had succumbed to the Metric system, too? How can Canada have changed to metric, kilometers on their highways without the Queens' permission. It must be all those Frenchmen in Quebec screwing up the English system. My auto "speedo' has both systems just in case we ever venture into Canada again! Real problem in Quebec however because all roadsigns in French with no English conversions, unlike both road sign languages used in the English speaking Provinces! I'll be damned if I will learn an obsolete language! :D :D

not yet, tho we are taught to meauer in CM and no longer allowed to sell items in lbs or pints. and now it looks like the pounds off, i vote no.
yes.. those FrenchCanidians have a REAL! problem with the engilsh, could be called raceism even.
I spent ten days in france last month, it AINT the laungage of love, very ugly to hear spoken normally.
Adding the radio flyer to the weird planes pages now.. also another thread i forgot about... give me a few mins and it'll be done

Here's another inflite picture.

Some specs...

The main wing is coroplast constructed similar to a pizza box. I used an HDPE motor mount and an aluminum channel for the spine. I used 4 mil coro for the bottom of the wing with a 2 mil top to give it some airfoil. The sides of the wagon are 4 mil coro 4" tall. The wheels are 6" diameter made of 4 mil coroplast with servo wheel hubs. The wingspan is 24" and the chord is 36" with 6" elevons. The landing gear is 3/4"x1/8" aluminum. I have the front gear mounted with 1 screw in the center and a servo hooked to it for steering. In the big picture there is an Irvine .53 on it. I needed more weight up front so I took that off and mounted an MDS .61. It weighs just over 5 lbs. It flys alright, about like a pizza box.
